Glad to see they're looking into the handling of nursing/retirement homes under Cuomo, and not sweeping it under the rug in order to focus on the (still important, but far less so) sexual harassment scandals. Seemed like he might get off easy with a forced resignation, but if Huffpo is writing about it then maybe there'll be a higher profile investigation.

I have trouble with these situations, even while looking at it from both sides, from all sides.

It's one of those situations where you would need a mindreader and a time traveler to truly know what happened and who has the facts straight.

I've seen politicians do much worse and get off with barely an admonishment; and I've seen politicians who have had their careers destroyed before the evidence, the facts, are even available.

On the one hand, women (of which I am a member of this group) deserve to be heard and deserve to be taken seriously and deserve not to be abused, assaulted, harassed, and/or mistreated.

On the other hand, retribution towards men isn't always proportional to the crime or infraction committed (in both directions), and in some cases the charges might not even be legit.

Some sense of standards and laws applied appropriately should be how to handle these situations.

A court of law or something similar, ideally, should be the place where this is resolved. Not a social mob with torches and pitchforks.

More like the media loved him (and of course sites like WaPo are crying about how liberals were blind to Cuomo). For example his handling of COVID in nursing homes was always a big question mark for a lot of people.

Glenn Greenwald completes his journey to nazbol noinsense.

    https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021...socialist.html

In it, he declares that he considers the Donald Trump of 2016 along with Steve Bannon and Tucker Carlson to be authentic socialists, unlike the center left, which is “about nothing more than trying to sandpaper the edges off neoliberalism”:

“I would describe a lot of people on the right as being socialist. I would consider Steve Bannon to be socialist. I would consider the 2016 iteration of Donald Trump the candidate to be a socialist, based on what he was saying. I would consider Tucker Carlson to be a socialist.”

Greenwald’s primary focus is on foreign policy and national security, where the ideological lines really are blurry enough to construct a halfway-plausible case that Trump is to the left of the Democratic Party. It’s certainly true that Trump has more dovish views on Russia, though his motives for cozying up to it and repeating Vladimir Putin’s propaganda are obviously deeply corrupt, a reality Greenwald has fanatically refused to concede.
They soclaists, all right. Of the 'national' kind. One can say he's staked out a 'third position' here.

Meanwhile, supposed neo-liberal democrats are giving kids UBI.

He's my gov. He's a precious, ego-sensitive, vindictive gasbag that deserves everything that happens to him. He's created so many enemies on the Left that very few are willing to step-up for him now. He's on his own.

I only know him from the media. I dont know how new Yorkers felt about him before all this. but every mediea report I have seen up umtol a few weeks ago fawned on the guy. CNN acted like he was the second coming.

As a NY state employee, his antics are especially amplified for us. The media, especially CNN have a very cozy relationship with him. He's not especially liked by the Left.

NY Attorney General Letitia James is investigating the sexual harassment charges. I, for one, will withhold judgment until she announces the findings of her investigation. As for CNN, let's remember that Chris Cuomo, Andrew Cuomo's brother, is a CNN host. So they're not going to be objective on this.

Further to the left media, like TYT rarely had anything good to say about him. I'm originally from the Adirondacks in upstate NY, and there liking anyone named Cuomo is practicality a hanging offense, going back to his father.

That's how I want to play it too. I mean, he's not my Governor, however NY and NJ have a close relationship, like two siblings who don't always like each other, but occasionally need each other.

Between the nursing home COVID deaths and the sexual harassment claims, Cuomo looks to have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. While he's said that he won't resign, the more is learned about the former which I consider more important than the latter, Cuomo might not have a choice but fall on his sword.

The most ridiculous bit of whataboutism I've seen recently are right-leaning Facebook friends sharing lyrics of Cardi B's "WAP" and wondering how the hell that's acceptable but Dr. Seuss is an absolute no-no these days.

One is for children, one is not.

If WAP was aimed at children, people would be having the same problem. Probably more so.
