I have known a lot of women in my less law abiding days who were prostitutes'. Rather then straight up take money they would ask for gifts. My guess is that it's hard to prosecute someone for giving those kinds of gifts, which is why those women ask for it.

    Fun Facts:
Every time Trump took to the air local air traffic had to be rerouted or grounded and every time he was at Mar a lago security boats had to be deployed to guard over a couple of hundred square miles of sea and coastline.
Consider that while also considering he spent nearly a third of his Presidency there screwing around.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene just introduced a bill that would “reduce Dr. Fauci’s salary to $0 until a new NIAID administrator is confirmed by the Senate.”

The NIAID director’s appointment is not subject to Senate confirmation.

It is on this date each year that we profile a whole slew of Democrats, who clearly cannot be as bad as the Republicans, since we find so far fewer of them who seem to be troubling as politicians, because Republicans that claim the "just as bad" argument have been too lazy to actually, y'know, defend that argument and write about them. Not only are their fewer, the profiles often end up being brief because they are usually not nearly as unhinged as their counterparts. Here’s the short list of Democrats we've profiled on April 1st:

    Matt Lieberman

Refreshingly for the entire country, the state of Georgia elected two Democratic Senators to represent them in the 2020 election. Reverend Raphael Warnock became Senator Raphael Warnock, no thanks to Matt Lieberman, who was the son of former Senator Joe Lieberman, another guy who Democrats found to be way out of touch with progressive values (there are reasons he was John McCain’s original desire for a VP candidate before he was talked into Sarah Palin) before he shuffled away from Washington, D.C. Matt Lieberman hung around the open primary for a seat he had no prayer of winning, and it was feared for awhile that the votes he might get would have been better off ensuring Warnock could finish in the top two and out of the primary. Because Democrats were not going to rally around Lieberman, who wrote a book with a protagonist sympathetic to the KKK and a belief system of wildly racist beliefs about African Americans. Lieberman tried explaining that the book was fiction and a response to the events of Charlottesville, but between this an the association with his father having burned so many bridges with progressives, he never was going anything but risk blowing it for Warnock. Georgia Democrats, Jewish groups, and even Barack Obama weighed in to ask him to drop out of the race to help Warnock’s cause, but he never budged. (It’s almost like he was a proxy to sabotage things for Warnock from the start, y’know?) Luckily, the top two Republicans were Kelly Loeffler and Doug Collins, and they split the vote between them in the wide open primary so that Warnock finished first.

    Ari Friedman aka Harry Bacharach

Alright, we’ve talked a lot about Republicans who ran for office while supporting the Qanon Conspiracy Theory in 2020, but there was one person kooky enough to try to get on the ballot and use Qanon to get elected as a Democrat… and that was Ari Friedman alias Harry Bacharach, a pianist who was spreading Qanon nonsense around while trying to run against Congresswoman Marcia Fudge for her seat in Ohio’s 11th Congressional District. Mind you, he was pretty clearly NOT an actual Democrat running for office, considering he wrote MAGA-themed songs to suck up to Trump, and also spread lies about the Pizzagate conspiracy theory and was known to defend anti-Semitism or deny that the Holocaust actually happened.

At this point, his Twitter account has been shut down and his already vague status as a political figure seems moot. At least, as a Democrat. We’re not going to be shocked if he turns up on the ballot again as a Republican at some point in the next few years.

    Chris Janicek

If Democrats had any chance of unseating Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse in the 2020 election, that long shot died when Chris Janicek became the nominee on the Democratic ticket as his challenger, emerging from a crowded primary with 31% of the vote. Janicek was revealed to have sexually harassed a female staffer during the primary over text messages, And then had accusations of him using racial slurs at a party years earlier surfaced. Nebraska Democrats asked for him to step aside so that they could replace him with a better candidate on the ballot, and he refused all the way up through Election Day, downplaying his inappropriate behavior and never apologizing for any of it.

Keep holding people accountable, Democrats. Especially if you can do it before a primary election is held.

I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Biden Administration

President Joe Biden is facing a test to his presidency unlike any faced by a modern American leader.

It’s not just the global pandemic. Or the park closures it precipitated. Or even his controversial and unpopular decision to switch the White House kitchen from Side by Side Pork and Rabbit Stew Adult Dog Food to plain old Purina Dry Dog Chow.
The dilemma—which he does not fully grasp—is that many of his so-called best friends are working diligently from within to muzzle parts of his agenda and curb his worst inclinations.

I would know. I am one of them. Who’s one of them? I am. Yes, I am! Yes, I am!
To be clear, ours is not the popular “Republicanism” of the right. We don’t really follow politics, and besides, those guys seem awful.

But our family has been loyal Americans ever since my ancestors emigrated from Germany in 1945, and the president continues to act like a bad president who is being very bad. That is why many Biden adoptees have vowed to do what we can to shepherd our democratic institutions to safety while keeping Mr. Biden on a short leash until the voters can bring him to heel.

The root of the problem is that the president needs to be firmly told no. His erratic decision-making around dog food brand-related issues is only the beginning. He’s arbitrarily transferred trusted advisers all over the country, uprooting their lives with scarcely enough time to grab a favorite toy. At best, he has begrudgingly paid attention to his fiercest supporters in scripted settings. At worst, he has blatantly ignored them in favor of long, boring conversations with strangers about boring political matters. We say no! We say bad president!

Don’t get me wrong. There are bright spots that the near-ceaseless negative coverage of the administration fails to capture: Sometimes visitors sneak dog treats into the White House. But these successes have come despite—not because of—the president’s leadership style, which is stingy, ungenerous, and parsimonious.

    Aaron Coleman

Aaron Coleman, aka, “that little s***”, is a 20 year old Kansas state legislator who ran a failed gubernatorial campaign after dropping out of high school at the age of 17, at 18 ran for the board of public utilities in Kansas City, and in 2020, actually upset an incumbent Democratic state legislator in a primary by a whopping 14 votes. And then, the disgusting details of his public school life began to make the news cycle, because Coleman had been running a revenge porn scheme since the age of 12 when he was in junior high (No allegedly on that, he admits it). He repeatedly was suspended for threatening violence against girls he went to school, and plead guilty to threatening to shoot a female classmate and turn the gun on himself. At the age of 19, while he was in the early stages of campaigning for his seat in the Kansas state legislature, he is alleged to have repeatedly assaulted and choked his teenage girlfriend, told her to kill herself, and threatened her as well. It has been reported he texted threats to rape, kill her, and dismember her corpse after the murder.

Since Coleman has arrived into the public consciousness, he’s also told a retired member of the legislature he hoped he’d contract Covid-19, and made a threat on Twitter that he would “call out a hit” on Gov. Laura Kelly.

The Kansas House of Representatives is currently trying to find a way to get ride of “that little s***”, but because none of the appalling things he’s done occurred while he was in office, the best they’ve been able to manage is to deny seating him on any committees. For which, Coleman is currently claiming that it’s because he’s Jewish and that the legislature is just anti-Semitic, because he’s a sociopath. (Local Rabbi David Glickman has come forward to throw cold water on Coleman’s attempts to make this about his faith.)

He has already left the Democratic Party once for speaking out against them, and seems unlikely to make it through what will almost certainly be his only term in office by 2022. If he does, he should not be a difficult candidate to take out in a primary.

    Andrew Cuomo

Ah, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Almost every major and most minor elected Democrats in New York in both Albany and serving in Washington, D.C., have called on him to resign in 2021, and what a fall from grace. The American people were so desperate for someone, anyone to show any kind of leadership or strength during the early phases of the Covid-19 pandemic, that all it took was some light banter with his brother Chris on CNN to humanize him and there were folks wondering if he might be a candidate for president in 2024.

Kind of hard to tout his handling of the pandemic when now he’s been caught covering up how his administration mishandled nursing homes at the time. Just… appalling negligence. A coverup indicates someone knows they done f***ed up.

But even outside of making mistakes that caused hundreds of deaths in his public health department affairs, there’s also Gov. Cuomo’s long history of bullying staffers and the press, and the multiple women who are coming forward to discuss moments where he was sexually harassing them in the workplace.

The era of s***ty men has come and gone, and Andrew Cuomo needs to be shown the door. The fact that he’s currently the subject of an impeachment inquiry is one thing, but the fact that he’s trying to claim he’s being targeted because he’s not a member of “the political establishment” when he’s the son of a former governor, a former Clinton Cabinet secretary, and been involved in New York politics for over a quarter century makes it just pathetic.

We’ll be plain. If Governor Cuomo was on Sesame Street, the episode should be brought to us by the letters “G”, “T”, “F”, and “O”.

Lieberman was my Senator here in Connecticut.

He was previously the state Attorney General for much of the 1980's, and was Al Gore's running mate in the 2000 U.S. Presidential election, making him the first Jewish candidate from a major political party to run for V.P.

In 2006, he lost the Democratic primary (in August) for his U.S. Senate seat to Ned Lamont (the state's current governor), but ran as a third-party candidate ("Connecticut for Lieberman" party) and beat Lamont and the Republican candidate that November.
