It wasn't Democrats that said that, it was Election officials. And they didn't say that it couldn't happen, just that there is no evidence that it did.

And it was said because it was f***ing true. The Republican controlled Senate and the entire Intelligence Community confirmed it. Which, there's no proof of any of Trump's "Big Lie" about election fraud in 2020.

Brace Yourself for the Man Who Could Become California’s Governor

As a Californian I am truly terrified. We are on the verge of having a democratically elected Governor overthrown through an absolutely ridiculous system (that may actually be unconstitutional!) and have Larry Elder, a far right radio host, take his place. This could legitimately be a death sentence for countless people, as Elder will no doubt roll back COVID safety standards. California could be the next Florida.

"Elder opposes the minimum wage, abortion rights, and vaccine and mask mandates, and in 2008 called climate change a “crock.” (He now says climate change is real but he’s not sure if it’s playing a role in California’s wildfires — given the scientific evidence, that’s little different from denying climate change altogether.) He has a long history of breathtaking misogyny. In 2000, he argued that women tend to vote for Democrats over Republicans because, bless their hearts, they’re just not as well informed as men.

“Women know less than men about political issues, economics and current events,” he wrote. “Good news for Democrats, bad news for Republicans. For the less one knows, the easier the manipulation.”

In the 1990s, Elder, who is Black and grew up in South Central Los Angeles, rose to national prominence largely for his paternalistic attitudes on race. He has called Black people “victicrats” for painting themselves as victims of racism. “In the year 2001, racism is not our major problem,” he once said. “Personal responsibility is.”

Actually Dems don't say elections are 100% safe. They have been trying to pass bills to ensure security for elections, including money for cyber security and a paper trail for voting. The GOP has stopped them at every turn.

    Both sides complained.

But only one side HAD ACTUAL FACTS AND PROOF.

Spare me the 'both sides' bullshit.

While more fringe accusations of vote tampering did occur, there was never any evidence of it. The 'complaints' largely existed over russian hacking and infiltration of the political discourse, which we all know happened, to say nothing of the hacking, info shared for microtargetting, etc.

Those in power kept their discourse in line with the facts, because that's what responsible politicians should do, lest they jeopardize faith in our elections with conspiratorial nonsense.

Y'know, like say if a political party were to parrot the idiocy of a malignant narcissist who's unable to admit he fairly lost, and by and large spend November, December, and early January repeating his impotent lies.

Both sides definitely didn't do that. One side surely did. They've continued to lie about doing it, and what happened because they did it.

The GQP. They have grievously destabilized our nation for a madman's ego.

Yeah, but when Hillary lost she didn't rile her supporters into storming the capital to try and hang the Vice President. People griped, people protested, but they accepted it ultimately. The GQP, meanwhile is living in a dream world where the My Pillow guy keeps saying Trump will magically be reinstated as President.

Why some US Capitol rioters are getting no jail time

Misdemeanor charges help clear the decks for going after the more dangerous rioters
The low-hanging fruit in the Capitol prosecutions have been mob participants who entered the building but did not engage in the specific acts of violence that would warrant felony charges.

There are a handful of different types of misdemeanor charges -- some from statutes aimed specifically at trespassing or disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds -- that have been brought in these cases. A go-to charge in plea deals with non-violent offenders has been from a statute that prohibits unauthorized people from entering the Capitol to "parade, demonstrate, or picket."

That charge carries a six-month maximum, but some defendants who have pleaded guilty to that sole charge have gotten off with just probation or home confinement, with factors like a lack of criminal history shortening the sentences of some defendants.

The pandemic continues to claim the lives of conservative anti-vaxer radio hosts.

    https://www.rawstory.com/anti-vaxxer...nier-deceased/

WNDB radio announced on Saturday night that anti-vax radio host Marc Bernier had passed away.

After Bernier was hospitalized three weeks ago, WNDB-AM/FM operations director Mark McKinney said he didn't know for sure if the host was unvaccinated.

"If you've listened to his show," McKinney said, "you've heard him talk about how anti-vaccine he is on the air."

By millions or however many illegal voters he said went for Hillary, without proof, and for no good reason since he'd be sworn in anyway, which is why I wasn't remotely surprised about him bitching about 2020 election results. I was even expecting public violence just from the Proud Boys being publicly asked in previously, and how obnoxious Republicans can get in public in general. Just not expecting the eventual international headlines about a GOP President being impeached twice for a Capitol riot where people died.

At least I'm glad such a party no longer has a vocal moderator badge carrying supporting member in this board that I have seen recently, and even the likes of public officials like Rand Paul can get banned from You Tube like the common troll that the Republican party has embraced.

One of main stories in UK news this morning is that last British evacuation flight has been made from Afghanistan with last of our troops posted there on the flight.

Some British nationals left behind, and bigger numbers of Afghanistanis who have right of sanctuary in UK left behind.

It’s sad. No reflection on our soldiers...who are as brave and well organised as anyone could wish for...but our politicians need to reflect on the overall planning of our “adventure” in Afghanistan.

Texas anti-mask ‘Freedom Defender’ Caleb Wallace dies at 30

Jessica Wallace said her husband got sick in late July, but “was so hard-headed.”

“He didn’t want to see a doctor, because he didn’t want to be part of the statistics with COVID tests,” she said.
Well, now he's a statistic as a COVID death. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I think about these people at work while running Covid-19 tests and then play the Jim Carroll Band's "People who Died" to try and feel anything about it.

    It usually doesn't work.
