    I mean, here's the list...

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/28/polit...ned/index.html

Here's what's in the bipartisan infrastructure bill

    - Funding for roads and bridges

    - Money for transit and rail

    - Broadband upgrade

    - Upgrading airports, ports and waterways

    - Electric vehicles

    - Improving power and water systems

    - Environmental remediation

Politics. unless you have super majorities everywhere, always entitles to ask for much more than you think you can get so that the compromise will be close to what you actually want. Before Internet pundits and social media, the details of what was in the original proposal barely registered with a lot of people.

If what he actually wanted was no family leave and Medicare not being able to negotiate drug prices(let's just set everything else aside...)

    F minus.

That's a very ... personal way of reading what I wrote.

I meant of course, the things you want that you think you might get the votes for if you ask for some more things that you will never get the votes for.

It still stuns me that Trump did not manage to do what Biden did here. With Democrats being much more likely to be bipartisan, whit his rep of being a "builder" (deserved or not), with the obvious popularity of improving infrastructure, Trump failed to do this.

    Not really...

You can't fail at something you probably never actually intended on doing to start with.

It was part of the guy's bit. It was most likely always about as real as that great replacement for the ACA that never even made it to the "Drawing Board..." stage.

The only thing infrastructure existed for in Trumpworld was to take it away every time the Democrats did something he didn't like.

Yeah, #30 is clearly not grading on the curve if he considers passing a bill full of stuff that will help people and help the country a failed grade, compared to the former guy's performance.

Which is still a huge political failure. Passing infrastructure bills with popular measures could have gotten him re-elected and protected the GOP Senate majority.

Pfft! The only thing infrastructure meant to The Former Guy was building casinos and/or his goddamned border wall.

When it could have been an easy win for him. Trump was just bad at it, at all parts of it other than stoking racism.

He will sign it next week...

Your President did that. Now its time to kiss his ring ! Lol
The narrative for the Trump years was utter dysfunction. The media has become used to McConnell's will being done and that "nothing gets passed".

A lot got cut out of this bill, but people needed to calm the f*** down in the press the whole time, because at the end of the day, Joe Biden knows how to get something through the Senate.

That, at the end of the day, is the story. To a lesser extent, the story is, "F*** Manchin and Synema for aiming so low and selling out to corporate interests so more wasn't in there". She, at least, will be toast when she's up for re-election in 3 years.
