Woke up from a nap half an hour ago and just heard about this, and all I have to say is....GOOD! Most of the talk in Pennsylvania politics today had been about Republicans challenging Governor Wolf’s emergency declaration to hurry the full reopening of the state. I guess the state’s GOP now has something else to worry about.

Trump's approval rating has dipped into the 30s in... well, just about every poll that isn't Rasmussen.

Seeing deeper analysis that his "pose with a Bible" stunt has deeply cut into his Evangelical support. Like, that finally was the straw that broke that hypocritical camel's back and got them to abandon him. It probably should have been the "payoff to the porn star while cheating on his pregnant wife" revelation, or like... ANYTHING else... but at least a moment to bail on him arrived.

Except for some of the nutters that thinks he's a chosen one or something. Honestly I would not be surprised if he tried to make it seem like he dumped them.

538 adjusts the polls and says Ras is really 39 - 56.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Bible thumpers knew from day one that Trump was the Seven Deadly Sins rolled into one pudgy, orange skinned package and broke most of the Ten Commandments by himself, and they still got in bed with him, so I doubt they’ll abandon him now.

So... yeah. Trump's floor previously has been 37-38. This is where Truman was when he lost. Trump might go lower now, as Covid-19 deaths top 114K (and still likely to grow in the coming weeks), unemployment sits at 40 million people, and civil rights protests continue around the country while he makes himself to be the victim from a bunker. If he doesn't reverse trend, he could be in the realm where Bush was after Hurricane Katrina pretty fast.

Seeing articles where GOP insiders are saying, "We're f***ed. We should've distanced ourselves from Trump a year ago. Now it's too late. November will be a historic bloodbath for us. Even announcing a vaccine as an October surprise isn't going to change minds. People are going to need to be vaccinated and safe for them to even consider him. We're just... we're f***ed."

Biden is saying that he isn't supporting getting rid of the Police, he is supporting transforming the police. There are others who also want to make changes, changes like those being passed through Congress.

He'd probably be fine if he bothered to hold the damn thing right. I mean, he waved it around, upside down and backwards. It's like he's never held a damn book in his life

When the debate in the public is all about whether "defund the police" means abolishing them entirely or just reforming them, the fact that the Democratic candidate comes out and proposes giving them MORE money is beyond tone deaf.

The biggest problem with the Police are the Police Unions. Using Camden as a example, in order to break free from the Union, the Camden Police Department was disbanded. It was then reformed as the Camden County Police, first without a Union, now with Union that isn't corrupt.

The Police Unions have often crossed the line, protecting bad cops, encouraging bad behavior, gobbling up money for military equipment that isn't needed, and so on.

Most Unions have a balanced view, they protect their members but don't go to dangerous lengths to do so.

If Fire Fighters had Unions like Police, houses would burn down left and right because the Unions wouldn't allow Fire Fighters to endanger themselves by getting inside a burning buildings.

The problem is that the slogan isn't that direct and the public take time to accept benevolent ideas like Black Lives Matter. It took years for the latter to be accepted and that was point blank with what the goal was. Can't reform the police without putting money in it, and that's going to be a huge undertaking.

Yeah, this is a thing that bothers me with police, even when one sets aside the racism. They're too willing to shoot first without bothering for questions. And that places the public in greater danger.

When it comes to spending money on law enforcement, it isn’t just the uniforms on the street, it’s forensic divisions, administration, maintenance, community outreach, training, a thousand things needed to keep a police department running smoothly. As for taking military weaponry out of the hands of cops, I’m torn about that, especially after the infamous Norco Shootout which had already been mentioned. The bad guys out there have no trouble getting their hands on hardware like AK47’s and the like, going up against that with pistols and shotguns is suicide, plain and simple. Defunding the police would have to be done judiciously, throwing the baby out with the bathwater is a trickier proposition, sure, it can be done as was the case with Camden, New Jersey, but it would be a tough road to hoe, and to do so would take money. Don’t get me wrong, at the end of the day, I’m all about police reform, the sooner, the better.
