Honestly, it's just another way for him to waste Californian's money writing, passing, and then defending a law like that when they know it will be struck down. He loves to do stuff like that.
This is a test of the SCOTUS' decision. If CA didn't try it, another state would have. If that state is strongly Republican, then they might try it with something like $10,000 reward for anyone who gets their kid vaccinated, or $10,000 reward for anyone who attends BLM protests, etc.

Someone needs to push back and see what happens. Might as well be California.

    Exactly this.

This had to be done and other states should follow.

Ever since Roe vs Wade, the more conservative states have been passing various types of anti-abortion bills, they were constantly testing the court decision. It’s about time the more progressive states start to enforce more progressive laws in the same vein.

After all, a good chunk of the country already supports gun control, it’s about time those folks were listened to.

Personally, I look forward to Red States clutching their pearls as Democrats use the exact same tactics against them

No, it might as well be YOUR state that does that, we have far too many of our own problems he should be looking at. We don't have the money to spend on every pet cause of his that does nothing for the state. It is nothing more and nothing less than a bid by Newsom to rile up his base. The Texas thing doesn't need HIS help, it will fail on it's own illegality. Him doing this does literally nothing for the Texas law, one way or another. Newsom BTW can't "test" a SCOTUS decision. The only thing he has to do with them is to follow their decisions. This state has HUGE problems he's never bother even trying to appear to fix. And they're getting much worse, VERY quickly. Let Newsom score political points elsewhere on an otherwise completely pointless idea that would do nothing whatsoever to overthrow the Texas thing, which will fall on its own, which bears repeating. It is in no way constitutional, legal on other scores....I mean SCOTUS has it's choice of how to eventually overthrow that. Which it will, whichever reason they choose to cite. Meanwhile, the lower courts will have their way with it, and it doesn't look good their for that law, either. Which is why SCOTUS kicked it back there essentially by allowing providers to sue back against the law.

What does that even mean - you are speaking straight out of your bias - to a lot of old timey GOP all they have ever thought the GOP stands for is the rich and getting rich with some born again Christianity thrown. I know plenty of Asians that line ballot because of that. Their bias is that the Dem base is a party of moochers and socialists along with Drug using reprobates.

My hope is that the Jan 6 investigation will turn something up that will put a stake in the heart of Trumps chances for re-election.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Fox anchor Chris Wallace says he’s leaving the network

There is an opening at CNN, I wonder if he is heading there?

    edit:

Update: Chris Wallace is headed to be a signature player for CNN plus, according to a person with direct knowledge.

    edit2:

Fox anchor Chris Wallace leaving network for CNN

NEW YORK (AP) — Veteran anchor Chris Wallace signed off his Fox News Sunday show after 18 years to join CNN, dealing a blow to Fox’s news operation at a time its opinion side has become preeminent.

CNN announced shortly after his show ended that Wallace, who is 74, will join the streaming service CNN+ as an anchor. The service is due to debut sometime next year.

“It is the last time, and I say this with real sadness, we will meet like this,” Wallace said on the program he moderates, “Fox News Sunday.” “Eighteen years ago, the bosses here at Fox promised me they would never interfere with a guest I booked or a question I asked. And they kept that promise.”

Wallace was a veteran broadcast network newsman, working at both ABC and NBC News, before the late Roger Ailes lured him to Fox with the promise of his own Sunday show. Methodical and never showy — in contrast to his father Mike, the legendary “60 Minutes” reporter — Chris Wallace was known for his methodical preparation and willingness to ask hard questions of all guests.

What is CNN+ and why would you pay for it? - Jul 19, 2021

What is CNN+, the cable news channel’s new streaming service? Let’s do the short answer first: CNN+ is not CNN.

Think of it, for now, as CNN Jr.

Slightly longer: If you want to watch Actual CNN, CNN+ is not for you. Actual CNN is still limited to people who pay for the news channel as part of a pay-TV bundle. So CNN+, which will launch next year for a yet-to-be-disclosed price, will be ... something else. That is, stuff that’s like CNN, but not on CNN (disclosure: Vox Media is producing a series with CNN Originals and I’m working on that project).
Here’s the full story: CNN+, like lots of other attempts from big TV programmers to move into the streaming world, is an in-betweener: It wants to leverage the old TV channel’s brand to create a new revenue stream, without cannibalizing the thing that generates enormous revenue and profits.

You can see why CNN and its owner — for now, that’s AT&T, which owns WarnerMedia but plans to dump it into a new company, which will combine WarnerMedia with Discovery Networks — want this to happen. Whether consumers will want it is another question.

One more thing that I found to be amusing

    Governor Phil Murphy -
Congratulations to Chris Wallace on a tremendous run at @FoxNewsSunday
. Always tough, fair, and the consummate professional. Wishing him all the best in his next chapter.

NBC got Shep Smith, CNN is getting Chris Wallace. I don't watch Fox, so is there any legitimate news anchors/journalists left who might jump ship?

I'm being a little bit pedantic, but "is" denotes a singular, not plural......you know what? You used the right word after all. Unless even that is too many.....

I don’t think there are any legitimate talking heads left on Faux News. Looks like all that’s left are the mouth foaming, Trump slurping loons.

It's sad that the fear mongering from conservative media/politicians work so well on republicans.

I'd settle for anything prohibiting him from running for public office again.
