What is their solution to the problem? Defunding/removing the police is beyond stupidity in my books.

I lived in Philadelphia when my wife was finishing her Fellowship. Its a cesspool of crime in many parts. I felt far safer when I saw officers nearby for obvious reasons.

As for Maxine Waters, California is even worse. My friend just got back from San Francisco. He was told not to rent a car because it'll get car jacked. Also when he went into a CVS there was somebody in there casually shoplifting, the security guard told him to stop but the shoplifter didn't and he casually walked out.

I'd rather live in a safe neighborhood where I'm ok letting my kid play outside and not fearing for our safety 24/7

For me it is about holding the police accountable when they ruin lives. The cozy relationship between police and prosecutors, qualified immunity, the blue line of silence, and civil forfeiture laws make the police seem little better than the criminals they are supposed to protect us from in the eyes of a lot of people.

Hold them accountable, eliminate the worst abuses, and most problems that exist between the police and the citizenry go away.

Let's say that Clinton became President instead of Trump, what would have changed in terms of Ukraine and Russia?

If I may turn that on its head:
What if Putin had had more successes in Europe than just Brexit?
Would we be seeing a united Europe like we are right now with a PM Geert Wilders in the Netherlands and a Présidente Marine LePen in France? I doubt it.

I'm of the opinion that one thing isn't enough to qualify, but that one is almost worth it on it's own. Still, I would look at the preponderance of stuff that WBE uses to qualify someone for the list and compare before you just throw out names.

I am going to ask this as politely as possible: how is this possible that so few people seem to care about the war? I am barely sleeping, following news non-stop, crying half of the time, but when I visit this site, there's a small discussion here, but everywhere else, it seems like business as usual, people talk about movies, all sorts of usual BS, as if nothing was happening.
Is this how it looks for the average Americans, like if it was the same as constant wars in Middle East, etc, that we have become indifferent to over the time?
Can you please illustrate to me how it looks in your area, do people realize how catastrophic this is and how much worse it can still get? I am sking here, because this forum and one other is where I usually get to talk to people from around the world and the other one does not allow political discussions. I have seen people reacting on twitter and providing all kinds of support, but I know that twitter is not exactly a picture of the real world.

Maybe it's because our governments have ALL normalized letting thousands of people die every week, for months, during the pandemic, so hearing about hundreds of people dying just feels like a Tuesday now?
I know, it's very cynical. But it's a thousand needles.

How will the GOP fare with Putin's troll army otherwise occupied?

While I am concerned about what is happening in the Ukraine, I'm honestly more concerned what's going on in America right now. Specifically Texas.

I don't disagree with that for a second.

But when I see so much crime in specific locations...the police problem has to be a tiny fraction of the cause compared to more obvious reasons if you're talking about lives ruined.
