Honestly, I muted him after Beto was escorted out, because by that point I figured it would all be the same political, blame the Dems, I did nothing wrong, it's not the guns, it's mental health, there should have been good guys with guns in the school already to take out the shooter bullshit that Republicans spew after every mass shooting.
FYI.....
Most schools already have them.
My school district has a police department of its own and we have city cops in the schools.
Now smaller ones depending on the budget of the city and school district might have a few cops or resource officers. Then again they don't expect stuff like this to happen because everyone knows everyone in a small town. So they don't budget for it.
Arming folks is NOT the answer especially educators. So is the answer then that only the government, police, and criminals are able to arm themselves? I'm not asking that sarcastically, I'm asking that legitimately.
Arming people in stressful professions like teaching is one of the most terrible solutions republicans have cooked up.
The key is you have to make sure competent folks have access to guns. The Republicans using every LIE they can make including minorities replacing white folks and scaring the rednecks (who are NOT trying to kill anyone but animals) to stoke the flames of fear.
They are so QUICK to yell mental illness. Why aren't they yelling that for all these black males who kill black folks in places like Chiraq?
He went after his own people in a city that is 80% Hispanic. In fact there are more black Major League Basketball players than there are black folks in that region.
No. However common sense has to kick in.But in Australia, police, criminals, and government still have guns - just the people don't. Again, is that what people want?
Why does Billy Joe need a AK-47 and he lives in Smallville? Cobra, Legion of Doom, Mars Attacks, Black Adam, Klingons, Predator nor the Daleks are going to invade Smallville.
Abbott can make all the laws he want-but is he WRITING THE CHECK to fund those laws????"I signed the bill that made 17 safety programs that have to be followed. We dont know if the school was following them,"
That shooter wasn't a student at the school.
LEGALLY we can't lock all the doors at a school. Fire Marshall says HI. Unless you have someone to buzz folks in every hour of the day.
Bullet Proof glass does no good when there is a fire INSIDE the school.
I mean the point has been made before a lot of teachers don't WANT to have to be packing and expected to engage in shootouts with these fools on top of everything else they are expected to do. They have to buy their own school supplies and teaching materials in a lot of places. But, they should be armed and trained where and with who's money?
And if they dare ask for raises thats out of the question.
This reminded me to donate to Beto's campaign he will have an uphill battle still but oh well.
I had armed police stationed at my high school when I went there. In the 90's. And I was in the midwest- Creve Couer, Missouri. Schools have had armed officers stationed there for emergencies. They don't always make a difference.
People want their guns to protect themselves from a tyrannical government. But the point has been made- I think on this board!- that if the government decides to go full tyrant, Jim-Bob with his AR-15 and army surplus body armor isn't going to do jack when Uncle Sam is rolling in tanks, or bombing them from the air.
There have been three mass shootings in Texas this month. Two took place on the same day (May 15th). Here is a map of all the mass shootings that have happened this month (so far).

What about my freedoms???The National Rifle Association (NRA) told attendees they will not be able to carry firearms during an event with former President Donald Trump at its Texas conference that will be held just days after a deadly mass shooting at an elementary school in the state.
On its website, the pro-gun organization declared that people would not be able to bring their firearms into the General Assembly Hall during its upcoming Annual Leadership Forum in Houston on Friday, May 27. In a notice, the NRA said firearms, toy guns and "weapons of any kind" would not be allowed inside the hall. It also listed several other items, such as laser pointers and signs among things that were prohibited.
