Not really surprising news. On Aug 2020, trump said "The only way we're going to lose this election is if the election is rigged".

This leaked audio is kind of the opposite of what he said then, so I don't get why it shows it was "not suprising"? Trump knew he could lose and he told Bannon up front he had a plan to steal the election.

In a chat channel where I visit frequently on the Discord, Someone commented that the news is fake, because the ten year old is too young, she can't get pregnant and Girls don't start menstruating until at the age of 12 years.

The ignorance of some humans never cease to amaze me. Some girls, unfortunately, do start having menstruation periods as early as 5 years of age. Why did God ever make these poor girls capable of giving birth at a very young age?

So I saw that Texas was suing the Biden Administration over his new Executive Order protecting reproductive care for Emergency Room patients- basically his order saying that if a woman's life is in jeopardy, the hospital MUST provide an abortion if the situation calls for it. Once again proving that Texas doesn't give a damn about the life of women. And will the Texas AG ever actually go to trial for the things he's been accused of? Or is he hoping to delay it long enough to become Gov?

In related news, Indiana attorney general says he is investigating doctor who treated 10-year-old rape victim.

"So we're gathering the information, we're gathering the evidence as we speak, and we're going to fight this to the end, including looking at her licensure," Rokita said. He said his office is also looking into whether "she failed to report" the procedure in Indiana because "it's a crime to not report, to intentionally not report."

Rokita did not say whether there actually were any problems with the doctor's license, or if there was any indication she had not reported the case. Bernard could not immediately be reached for comment and her employer, Indiana University Health, declined comment.

Republicans block bill protecting women who travel to other states for abortion

Honestly, this baffles me. I thought one of the big things about America is that we are free to travel anywhere in the country at any time for any reason. It seems to me if states try to block certain people from traveling to other states for any reason, that's a big old lawsuit waiting for them.

U.S. gasoline prices have now declined for 30 days in a row, a trend that will provide some relief to consumers living through the worst period of inflation in 40 years.

The average U.S. price of regular unleaded fuel dropped to $4.61 a gallon, according to AAA data published Thursday. That compares with the $5.02 average seen a month ago.

But prices remain unevenly distributed across the country, and are still well above the $3.15 per gallon average seen last July.

Judge issues arrest warrant for Colorado county clerk Tina Peters

A judge in Colorado issued an arrest warrant Thursday for Tina Peters, the Mesa County clerk who was barred from overseeing elections after she was indicted on charges of tampering with election equipment and official misconduct.

Judge Matthew Barrett of Colorado’s 21st Judicial District said that Peters, who recently lost the GOP secretary of state primary in the state, had violated the conditions of her $25,000 bond, which barred her from traveling. The judge has revoked the bond and ordered her to be held in jail pending a hearing.

I was given an odd sense of relief that one of the propagandists against foreign terror during the Bush (43) administration would be using her powers for good, and not evil, to report on the domestic terror threat that is Donald Trump, the Proud Boys, the Oathkeepers, and those in the Republican Party beholden to the lot of them in the fallout of Jan. 6th. Seeing the reports at her laying blame right on Jim Jordan for his role in it in the middle of the chaos, and just realizing...

Did... did she just flip sides, even while keeping her party registration because she knows what's best for the Republic?

Every time McCarthy, Scalise, Jordan, and Stefanik put a knife in her back for doing the right thing, they were only motivating her to go nuclear.

It's one of the most incredible developments of this whole saga.

She continues to vote against the Biden agenda, but she seems to be one of the rare Republicans who cares about democracy and she is very pissed off at the ones who don't.

Cheney has made no bones about putting the country and democracy ahead of the party which went off the rails with a vengeance after 1/6. I don’t agree with her politics, but Cheney is more of a patriot than the rest of the asshats in the GQP relentlessly sucking up to Trump in a baldfaced power grab.

Guess we finally have a pretty conclusive answer on if they are actually going to put country/democracy ahead of party or not.

The measure was approved in a largely party-line vote of 220-205. Four Republicans joined Democrats in supporting the measure, while all the “no” votes came from the GOP. Three Democrats and two Republicans did not vote.
