But I gave these examples: tearing down statues (e.g. what they did to the Churchill statue here in London), protesting (and by this I meant violent protests including rioting and looting, I don't mean peaceful protests), changing words from "guys" to "folks" or "y'all" (this is completely silly), forced race swapping of characters. This is not "inclusivity and representation", this is radicalism.
Some statues need to be torn down. Dont know about the Churchill thing this is the first I am hearing of it. Statues of Confederate leaders that started a civil war and owned slaves have no place in public land. Some one wants to display them on their own private land fine, in a museum fine. Not on public land. And the same people who want the Confederate statues of their heroes for history are the same ones that get made at MLK statues.

As far as protests gor there are several on this board that spoke out when the BLM protests turned into looting and burning buildings. Including myself.

I am not sure what Forced race swapping even is.

Churchill statued attacked during a BLM protest in the center of London, there was more graffitti afterwards and calls to destroy the statue, the police had to put a barrier around the statue at some point:

The people who did this are ignorant and criminals, it's as easy as that.

Glad to see you spoke out against the BLM rioting. There's nothing wrong with BLM and peaceful protests. But there is a lot wrong with rioting, burning and looting. People who can't see that are radicals.

I didn't chime in last week despite some hurtful, hand-wavy comments regarding the First Lady comparing my community to bodegas, flowers in Miami, and morning tacos. Some said well she apologized so it's over now. Except it's not.

'Miss Frijoles' attack roils Latino-heavy congressional race in Texas
Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez is distancing himself from a blogger he paid who's using bigoted language to describe GOP opponent Rep. Mayra Flores.

A Texas blogger paid by Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez's campaign is attacking Republican opponent Rep. Mayra Flores as “Miss Frijoles” and a "cotton-pickin' liar," prompting a wave of denunciations by fellow Democrats.

The language first surfaced three days after Gonzalez’s campaign wrote a $1,200 check to The McHale Report blog June 24 for “advertising services,” according to the Democrat’s Federal Election Commission finance report.

Flores, in a Twitter post Monday, accused the Gonzalez campaign of paying “a local blogger to run hateful & racist ads against me,” a charge that the Gonzalez campaign and blogger Jerry McHale deny. They both told NBC News that the timing of the attacks were coincidental, that the congressman didn’t pay for any of the inflammatory posts, know about them or have any control over them.

“Of course, the congressman is against referring to Rep. Flores as ‘Miss Frijoles’ or a ‘cotton-picking liar’,” Gonzalez’s campaign manager, Collin Steele, wrote in a text message to NBC News, echoing the state Democratic Party chair and other Texas Democrats who denounced the language as well.

But McHale would not back down.

“I am a liberal Democrat. And it’s war against the Republican ... I’m going to be merciless with her,”
    he told NBC News.
So I have to ask and I would like genuine comments. Is this acceptable because it is "war against the Republican"? Now that the First Lady has publicly insulted us, have the floodgates started to open because some choose to run on their conservative values? Is this blogger going to be cancelled? Is Biden going to stand up and make it clear that this language is incredibly painful? Has Jill Biden's speechwriter been fired yet? Is there going to be modified training within the administration to teach people that comparing a very large portion of the voting population to food is wrong? "Trump said worse!" is not going to cut it.

This is my party ffs. No wonder recently released numbers show Hispanic support for Biden has dropped 71 points since January 2021. It seems when we're not largely ignored, we're insulted.

Churchill statue with a barrier around it to protect it from BLM/ Woke mob attackers.

Is this diversity and inclusion? Is this social justice?

    I don't think so.

To answer your question no it is not oaky to make racist attacks on a political opponent no matter what party they are for. It is shameful. And for the Democrat party the party of racial justice to do this after attacking the GOP on their racist rants is not okay at all. Racism on either side is not okay. Attack her views, statements and record not her race and gender.

And then Democrats don't understand when Latinos - the fastest growing demographic in the US - are increasingly turning to the GOP

Thanks babyblob. I was just having a private conversation and my Mom sends me this article minutes ago and it completely stopped me in my tracks. She's upset and I'm upset and words can't describe how painful it is for this blogger to decide he's going to double down and be "merciless." This is what a half-assed apology from our First Lady can snowball into. And this is why it's hard for me to agree with the idea that Democrats need to stop playing nice because it can quickly get out of control.

Had a Republican said this or paid this blogger, it would be shitstorm across the nation and rightfully so.

That I don't agree with, it would make the news in the morning and be overshadowed by dinner time. It happens already constantly as is from plenty of Republicans, but it's only really a threat maaaaybe at the local level and that depends on the demographics. Now i'm not saying it's right for democrats to start pulling that shit, they shouldn't because as you Babyblob said it goes against what they are supposed to stand for, but I expect them to face consequences from trying more than I expect Republicans ever too. I do think the Dems do need to stop playing nice though and really show how awful the Republicans truly are.

I am one of the dont play nice crowd. But there is a huge jump between not playing nice and attacking people over their records and statements and attacking someone over their race or gender or sexual orientation religion etc.. The problem is some people like this ass clown dont see the difference. And in the long run he is hurting the Democrats even more because they do have an issue with Latino voters and this will just anger them even more and rightly so. Now the Democrat party is has to speak out against him. And if they diont then they are painted rightfuly so as being oaky with this type of thing. Or if they dont speak our fast enough or give a half assed statement they will be accused of paying lip service. I made the big thing with Mets. The GOP needs to speak out against their racist base and elected officials for psoing and supporting hate groups and hate. if the Dems cant do that also they are talking out of their ass in a big way and also need to be called out on it.

And you are right had a GOP done this we would be losing our minds here.

I don't know, I feel like when Trump put his foot in his mouth every other day it was headline news, as deserved. I do agree with calling out all awful behavior and yes, the Democrats can be more vocal about that.

There's just been very little outreach to the Hispanic community from the administration and when there is, it's horribly bungled. Hyped78 isn't wrong that we're the fastest growing demographic but you wouldn't think so by how little our contribution is highlighted.

Some pages ago Tendrin said "black voices", I replied "what about latino voices? asian voices?" and from the reaction it looked like I said something wrong

There is not near enough out reach for Latino voters. And when Latinos vote GOP in elections it is down played. "No that is the Florida Latinos. The ones scared of socialism."

Because it was a specific scenario in a specific context and the reply was pretty plainly bad faith as it was. It's hardly zero sum.
