So in a comical deal for weeks a friend I know has been claiming he's gonna vote for 3rd party. Discussing how Joe Biden and Donald Trump are the same , both parties are the same etc. Its became so silly that he listed all the people he's voted for ...and all of them was Republican up til 2016. Its like saying Big Macs and Whoppers are all the same but never having ate a Whopper ever and making the claim repeatedly.

At this stage its a head smack on silliness. Like not even caring whats going on in news or anything. Just to claim , "Biden and Trump are the same !" repeatedly.

More like claiming Big Mac and Filet Mingon are the same.

They're not even in the same ballpark. Here's a thread that just highlights all of the issues with Trump and the military alone. If someone still tries to say they're the same, it's just them being forcefully ignorant or stubborn... much like a Trump supporter.

I gave up on it. Because it seems to be a fail safe option to be able to critique Trump , yet claim he didn't vote for Biden if something happens etc. But like you I list the various drastic differences both men have. Biden isn't a perfect candidate but for right now he's needed now more than ever.

California was the first hit, and have a ridiculous population density where they got hit... but 4,000 cases looks pretty good considering Florida had over 9,000 yesterday. They're gonna pass California with those kind of numbers, and DeSantis not doing anything to bring them down.

Arizona's numbers are also in the 5K range right now, but that's deceptive because Gov. Ducey has gone with Trump's "you can't have positive cases if you don't test" idea since March.

South Korea was also one of the first hit by coronavirus due to their border with China and also has a higher population density than California. half of South Korea's over 51 million people live in the Seoul Capital Area. South Korea has a bigger population than California which has 39 million people.

In the early Spring, South Korea was once the second worst coronavirus hit country with over 9,000 total covid cases in the first three months. Now South Korea has less than 13,000 total covid cases and less than 60 new cases every day. I guess the South Korean response to the pandemic is different from the response of the State Governors and the President. The cultural difference between South Koreans and Americans is not hard to figure out.

Florida and Texas will pass California in the next ten days. Since it will take up to 14 days for the covid symptoms to appear in the infected people, it is too late for DeSantis or Abbot to halt the reopening.

NJ did decline significantly, but now we're flat. The curve has now now flattened, which is good.

Yeah, NJ government did a good job, although their response was slow, which made New Jersey the second worst hit by coronavirus until California took over the spot.

In terms of outrage, that’s a step below Susan Collins furrowing her brow and firing off angry missives while toeing the party line. Don't bother with that line. I've seen people scream and holler about him voting for Antonin Scalia (Even though everyone voted for him back then) and for his role with Clarence Thomas (while his behavior was bad, Biden did vote against him ultimately). These people do not care at all.

My family is the same way, after all life in America is far more comfortable than back in the old country and who wants to be poor? But I would caution against falling into the trap that many immigrants have of starting to drink the Kool-Aid of thinking Western culture and values to simply be superior, because if that really were the case then other countries could simply adopt the American model and achieve similar levels of prosperity. But despite America "spreading freedom and democracy" all over the globe, there's scant evidence that this actually works. If the only way for people living in the global south to prosper is to be one of the lucky few that's allowed to emigrate to the US or Europe, then there is something seriously wrong with the way the world is set up.

Communism was hardly spreading freedom and democracy. They're one party states, and have histories imprisoning and torturing LGBT for being "defiants" and think killing off political rivals is acceptable. Marginalised people are hardly safe in Communist countries, even today.

If someone's been voting for Republicans up until 2016, they probably like Kavanaugh. Their problem with Trump is the things that would not apply to a generic Republican President.
