Well, he is, what, 80. Perhaps his recovery is just coming along more slowly than anticipated. My grandfather suffered a stroke in 1983 and later died after complications from same. I wouldn't wish that horror on anyone, not even McConnell.

Somebody leaked the internal email that the Manhattan DA sent out in reaction of Trump's thinly veiled threats:

"leaked"? Or letting the press know that Trump is full of shit?

I don't think it's denying what President Trump said per say, it's just telling their staff not to feel anxious about his treat of violence.

I've been getting emails lately encouraging me to sign on to a petition to send to FOX News demanding that they fire Tucker Carlson. What a joke. And what a waste of time. I am no fan of Carlson, but does anyone really believe that FOX would ever fire Carlson because of a petition? There are only two reasons they would ever fire him: low ratings or an impending and costly lawsuit. That second one is what made them fire Carlson's predecessor, Bill O'Reilly. But they don't care about petitions. I really don't get the point of these emails.

It's more the opposite? He is not denying the arrest will happen and is implying that the staff will be kept safe no matter how Trump's brown shirts react to the arrest.

If Trump were smart, and he's not, he'd focus the protests on one site. His call for mass protests is likely just gonna end up with a handful of idiots waving signs somewhere

McCarthy just made it clear that he’s picked Trump over the rule of law

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is well aware how much he owes his current position to former President Donald Trump. “I do want to especially thank President Trump,” McCarthy told reporters in January, after finally gaining enough votes to win the speaker’s gavel. “I don’t think anyone should doubt his influence. He was with me from the beginning.”

That indebtedness — or at least perceived indebtedness — helps explain McCarthy’s cowardly response on Saturday to the looming threat of indictment that Trump faces in New York City. A few hours after Trump claimed he would be arrested on Tuesday, McCarthy called Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s investigation into Trump’s alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels “an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump.”
McCarthy's wading into an ongoing criminal investigation is bad enough. But the California Republican added a bit of extra spice to try to keep up the façade that he’s just doing his job as speaker. “I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions,” McCarthy wrote. Arguably not his best work as far as fig leaves go.

A "Meanwhile, Out In Actual Reality..." instance -

At sixty-five, my old man had an actual stint in the hospital. When his hospital stay was finally up, they pulled me off to the side to point out that "Inpatient Rehabilitation..." was going to be a part of the picture and we should have a talk about it.

Long story short, the way they laid it out for me went something like this...

Let's take, say, ten folks your father's age that have needed any sort of an actual hospital stay and we just discharge them "No Questions Asked..." How many of them have something happen when we just send them home, and wind up right back in the hospital. Never mind right back in the hospital for a potentially longer stay. The inpatient rehabilitation stay is largely for doctors and rehab specialists to figure out exactly how ready any given person is to be back at home with minimal risk.

He wound up being in inpatient rehab for a little more than three weeks. Every single day that I could get there before dinner time, the three physical therapists had shifts of older folks spending around an hour in physical therapy from after breakfast up until dinner time.

Now, if we are talking about a guy who is about fifteen years older with even a potential concussion/cracked rib who will still be going back to work once he is discharged?

Yeah... There is probably a perfectly reasonable scenario where you don't just cut that guy loose to be discharged/go home once he no longer absolutely needs to be in a hospital room.

    So, yeah...

From what I have personally seen, that is way more "The Rule..." than "The Exception..."

In my days, you'd get an aspirin for a concussion and were told to take it easy for a few days. There was no "the goal is to get him where he can think and walk again."

The WWE/WWF and Football also did not have a "Concussion..." protocol.

    Things change...

I think one of the key differences between progressives and conservatives is the former see the future in the terms of opportunity and the latter see the future in the terms of a threat.
I also think the GOP have made manipulating their base on those terms into an art.

I do wish McConnell ill. If that makes me a bad person, so be it.
