No Texas GOP Reps. will say if they’ll attend Trump’s rally in Waco – will he have trouble filling seats?

Donald Trump's Saturday campaign rally in Waco, Texas, falls during the 30th anniversary of the 51-day siege that community is known for, when 86 people died after a failed ATF raid on an anti-government religious cult suspected of illegally stockpiling firearms amid allegations of sexual abuse, statutory rape, and polygamy.

Experts have been warning for a week that Trump's choice of Waco, synonymous with violent anti-government extremism, was no accident. His rhetoric this week, including most recently Friday when he warned of "potential death & destruction" should he be indicted, has been seen as encouraging violence.

NCRM was among the first news outlets to report experts' concerns over Trump’s choice to hold a rally in Waco during the 30th anniversary of the deadly siege.

Not a single congressional Republican from Texas will say they are attending, nor has the town's GOP mayor, according to a report from Insider, which contacted over two dozen Republican lawmakers and other elected officials.
Is it any wonder GQP are giving this mess a wide berth? Not even they have the stomach to be associated with a clusterfuck like this.

Judging from this piece from the New York Post editorial board, it looks like Rupert Murdoch has finally had enough of Donald Trump:

Trump won’t change, and that shows he can’t win

    This guy.

As some of his allies are trying to rewrite January 6 as an afternoon stroll, Donald Trump is having none of it.

In the face of a possible criminal case in New York, he screamed that “death and destruction” would follow any indictment.

He posed with a baseball bat aimed at the head of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

    THIS is Donald Trump.

He hasn’t changed in the slightest.

    There is no shame.

The Antipodean Anti-Trans Hate Rally Tour by professional transphobe Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, who also goes by the name Posie Parker (not to be confused with actress Parker Posey, who I'm sure is very nice) has ended ignominiously as the vile creature has fled New Zealand after being doused with tomato juice before she could spew her hate and lies at her Let (Some) Women Speak rally in Auckland today, when police assured her that the same thing would happen tomorrow if she went ahead with her planned hate-fest in Wellington. Unfortunately they took the tomato juice out of the can first, but we can't always get what we want, can we?

This follows her appearances in Australia, where she was supported by Actual Goddamn Nazis, who she breathlessly assures anyone who would listen that she had no idea those guys were going to show up, honest she didn't, and anyway, she reckons they were "trans activists" pretending to be Nazis to make her look bad, like she wasn't doing a good enough job of that all by herself. Victoria Police, surprising absolutely fucking no one, dutifully protected the Nazis from the people who simply wanted to give them the welcome they deserved. After all, the cops wouldn't want any of their friends or family getting hurt.

Victoria Police were also quick to assure the public that they had no idea that the same scumbags who'd shown up to every vaguely right-wing protest in the last few years were going to show up to this one, further cementing public perceptions that they're either deliberately complicit, or utterly fucking useless.

Well done, New Zealand. Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out, Nazi.

I watched something on this way back when it happened, with the person going over all the potential suspects. In Russia's case, it was stressed that they couldn't be treated in the same way as a unified country - the need to play different factions against each other could have it make sense for someone in Russia to have done it. If more moderate forces are pointing to lost revenues and questioning the war, then removimg any possibility of them getting those revenues back undercuts thier position and probably peels off some of thier support.

I wonder if it was poor timing or on purpose to hold a rally on the 30th anniversary of Waco siege.

Considering how many anniversaries of things that they 'coincidentally' hit to thumb their noses at with this rally or that announced legislation I'm fairly sure they have someone checking the calendar to figure out how best to 'trigger' the 'woke' crowds of liberal 'snowflakes'.

    That is rhetorical? Right?
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Homophobic comments directed at Tom Edwards, a gay Florida School Board member, prompted him to walk out of a meeting. Now the leader of the Republican Party of Florida has labeled him ‘Tommy Drama.’

Edwards left a Sarasota County School Board meeting during public comment on Tuesday when a woman suggested he posed a danger to students. “What Tom stands for and what he wants to do to our children isn’t what a majority of Sarasota parents, voters and the community support,” said Sally Nista, a local School Board critic with ties to the Proud Boys.

Edwards voiced anger at the School Board Chair, Bridget Ziegler, for not shutting the comments down, especially two weeks after another commenter called Edwards an “LGBTQ groomer” at a separate meeting. Ziegler issued a public apology after that incident, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. But after Edwards asked her to stop the recent personal attack, Ziegler said there had been comments about multiple people and it was best to get through the public comment period.

Edwards told The Advocate he’s concerned for the mental health of LGBTQ+ students in his community as the rhetoric continues.
Gee. I'm sure we're all shocked.

Wasn't Ruby Ridge the first time Americans found out how unhinged the far right can get?

It's complicated. The far right anti-govt movement goes back years before that, the "Survivorlist" ( I think now they call themselves preppers) movement etc...I remember when RR happened and there were a number of conservatives or Republicans who would admit that the Weavers were extremists but felt that the FBI botched the operation or that it was govt over reach to try to force the Weavers to comply in the first place. Then the narrative among some folks became, "See! We were right all along! ZOG is coming for us!"

I always thought it was interesting that those folks were outraged when the FBI went after right wing groups, but were silent when the Feds targeted civil rights groups or Muslims.

By the way, is MTG still trying to "defund the FBI" or that over now that she wasn't able to sell enuff T-Shirts and hats?

And how would a school even know that if the student doesn't tell them?

What if the student has transitioned and went to a different school district. Now sure an unchanged birth certificate and previous records showing the former gender could be seen.

However at most only 5 folks would know and they would only know because they have access to records.

Unless the parent or kid said something not even the principal would know.
