At least 4 dead in Nashville, Tennessee school shooting

A gunman has opened fire at an elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, killing at least three people and injuring an unknown number of others, local officials and witnesses say. The suspect is also dead.

The incident began just before 10:30 a.m. on Monday when officers were called for an active shooter at the Covenant School, a private Christian school which offers preschool through 6th grade.

The recently seated New York Republican reached a deal with Brazilian prosecutors requiring him to admit to defrauding a Rio de Janeiro area clerk of $1,300, according to CNN. The cable news outlets said it viewed a nonprosecutorial agreement for Santos to reimburse the merchant for clothing he purchased with bad checks in 2008.

The congressman’s attorney reportedly petitioned prosecutors in January, arguing their client — freshly sworn into the 118th Congress — was gainfully employed and “re-socialized.”

Weeks earlier, Santos pleaded his case to the New York Post, insisting he “absolutely” didn’t commit any crimes in Brazil. The criminal investigation was reopened in January after Brazilian officials learned Santos was serving as an elected U.S. official, thanks to a successful campaign in which he lied about many aspects of his past.

Always, bear stuff like that in mind when Members of Parliament are claiming to be underpaid and over-worked…effectively things like the fantastically generous expense claims, incredible pension scheme, etc at least double their “headline pay”. Then they sell their “expertise” (usually realistically contacts and influence) to various commercial interests.

Labour mps not quite as bad as their Tory counterparts (not high praise!).

Yep they will leave it to voters in his re election. Which he has already filed the preliminary paperwork for. GOP should want to put up a strong replacement for him to try and keep the seat out of a known fraud but stay GOP.

I assumed once he was found guilty of a felony (let alone the number he's up for) he'd be forced to resign due to illegibility, but looking it up you guys are right and 2/3rds need to boot him. I don't trust the elected GoP to remove him in that case, nor anyone who suggests they would do so without being forced to do so.
