Went back about a day to see if this had come up. Sorry if it was already mentioned...

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas reportedly has been claiming thousands of dollars annually from a shuttered real estate firm
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas reported on financial disclosure forms that his family has earned thousands of dollars in rental income from a Nebraska real estate firm that has been shuttered since 2006, according to a report by the Washington Post Sunday.

Thomas has reported income from a firm called Ginger, Ltd., Partnership over the last two decades, but in 2006 it was shut down and replaced by a new firm, the report said. The new firm, Ginger Holdings, LLC, is similarly named, but there is no mention of it in Thomas’ records.

In recent years, Thomas reportedly continued to disclose between $50,000 and $100,000 in income from the old firm annually.

All of the guns being used in shootings in the here and now existed before these sort of shootings were a regular occurrence. Refusing to accept that something beside the gun is different in the present is refusing to actually deal with the issue.
Yes, guns have existed but society has quite clearly changed.

IT's difficult to mitigate against human behavior, it's much easier to minimize the tools that people utilize.

If hypothetically folks are becoming more insane, steps should be taken to reduce the access folks have to dangerous weapons.

Not in the current lay of the land.

While I get that take on paper?

It seems like it will be a non-starter for at least a little while longer.

Dealing with the reasons why more folks are deciding to deal with whatever with a gun?

It is simply the most realistic option right now.

Lindsey Graham calls fellow Republican ‘irresponsible’ for defending Pentagon leaker

Senator Lindsey Graham condemned his fellow Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene as “terribly irresponsible” on Sunday, after the far-right congresswoman defended the air national guardsman charged with leaking Pentagon intelligence documents.

Speaking on ABC’s This Week show, Graham said the leaks had “done a lot of damage to our standing” and criticized “those who are trying to sugarcoat this on the right”.

Taylor Greene, a known conspiracy theorist and election denier who was controversially named to the homeland security committee in January, had suggested on Thursday that Jack Teixeira, an airman in the air national guard who has been charged under the Espionage Act after allegedly leaking hundreds of secret defence documents, had been treated unfairly.

“There are military members serving today from Georgia and other places who are less safe because of what this airman did,” Graham told ABC.

“There is no justification for this, and for any member of Congress to suggest it’s OK to leak classified information because you agree with the cause is terribly irresponsible and puts America in serious danger.”

Teixeira published at least 300 documents, according to reports, to the Discord messaging platform. Some of the documents included details on Ukraine’s defense capabilities, while others pointed to how US intelligence has infiltrated the Russian military and appeared to show US spying on close allies including Ukraine, South Korea and Israel.

Even accounting for all of that?

The guy who just went in, and murdered a bunch of folks at his workplace?

That is not exactly a new development. That sort of thing has been happening for decades now.

    The Holocaust was not fictional.

Look for Graham to get a call from Trump telling him to stop the criticism of MHM (Madam Howler Monkey), followed by Lindsey promptly parroting everything she said. Perhaps by this time tomorrow.

Mister Mets was asking what's the difference between collecting Nazi stuff, and having a poster of Dr. Doom or The Joker on one's wall.

Obviously, one thing happened, and the other two are fictional

    this isn't really a "fact"... it's a contingent assertion.

by this line of thinking I could categorically declare that kids are safer with drag queens than they are with their own family.

after all, the vast majority of child abuse and elder abuse is being conducted by family members.

What this is... is a troll campaign. They know they have no chance of winning against Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy in Connecticut...

But the GOP want to make Murphy come out hard against guns, and point out that he's been pushing for smarter gun control since Sandy Hook. So they have the most obnoxious kind of loon who they're funding in this race for Murphy to have to slap down, but when he does, it will hurt perception of him outside of Connecticut particularly with blue-collar voters in red states who would turn on him because he might be "COMIN' FOR MUH GUNS!"

That's what it is. They can afford to send millions of dollars to candidates who are only there to antagonize people to coming out harder on issues that would turn off potential presidential candidates in completely different states.

    thanks for the reply.

how does THAT comparison deny the historicity of the Holocaust? I'm just not seeing it.

if we wanted to accuse him of making a false equivalence that would be one thing... but to accuse him of being a Holocaust denier seems out of line.

No one's accusing them of being a holocaust denier.

But there is no comparison between fictional murderers and actual Nazis, who have killed millions.
