From an all-talk poster who gave us scores of posts to doubt Hillary with little cause, and now wants us to cast doubts on Biden with none. All the while Trump is literally letting hundreds of thousands of people die of a pandemic, steal the concept of American democracy via voter suppression, and wants to do away with Medicare and Social Security that the elderly need to survive.

Card Check was supposed to be a "Front Burner..." priority when he was Vice President.

Everyone who is not stuffing cotton balls into their ears and covering their eyes can tell you how much of a "Priority..." it actually wound up being.

While this could be the time that the guy's "Walk" actually matches up to the "Talk", it's not like there isn't a perfectly obvious example of why you shouldn't take anything he is saying to the bank.

Would it be great if he did it? Absolutely.

That said, this is a guy with a track record when it comes to making excuses about why he couldn't get something done.

That's just the reality of it.

The Public Sector’s Right to Strike Is Left Behind in Biden-Bernie Task Force Compromise
Perhaps the most notable part of the platform, however, is an omission. It asks to “ensure that all private-sector workers' right to strike... is vigorously protected.” But for public sector workers, it asks only to “Provide a federal guarantee for public sector employees to bargain for better pay and benefits and the working conditions they deserve.” In other words, despite the fact that the public sector is much more heavily unionized than the private sector, and has been under legal attack from the right for decades, there is no demand that public sector workers be granted the right to strike—the single most potent weapon in any union’s toolbox.

More remarkable is the fact that Lee Saunders, one of America’s most powerful public sector union leaders and an Obama confidante, represents the faction that was not seeking to give his own members the right to strike. “In the public sector, AFSCME has taken the position that… in order to come to a conclusion if there are difficult negotiations, we should have binding arbitration in place of the right to strike,” Saunders told In These Times. “Public sector unions believe binding arbitration is better because we provide valuable public services.”

Saunders acknowledged that the issue of the public sector’s right to strike was discussed in the task force’s negotiations, but his view, unsurprisingly, carried the day. Sara Nelson, a leftist in the labor movement who is often mentioned as a future candidate to lead the AFL-CIO, pushed unsuccessfully for public workers to have the same right to strike as their counterparts in the private sector. “My mind wasn't changed during this process on any issue we brought forward. I fundamentally believe in the right to strike. The strike is a necessary component of collective bargaining,” she told In These Times. “If federal workers had the right to strike, there would never be a government shutdown ever again.”
This is what Biden's campaign is actually doing.

If you want to ignore what you actually see going on there to buy into that Biden is bound and determined to do something just because it is on his website?

    Absolutely your call to make.

While I've got no problem voting for the guy, I'm going to be realistic about what I will probably stand to actually get out of doing so. He ain't exactly Robin Hood.

    https://www.dataforprogress.org/memo...f-independents

It also doesn't take name recognition into account. By running for President, Warren and Harris will be more recognizable than other potential running mates.

With this poll, the real winner was probably "Not Sure" as the numbers don't even add up to 40 percent.

Looking at first choices can be misleading, as most Democrats will be fine with multiple candidates. Someone choosing Warren over Val Demings doesn't mean they'll be unhappy with Demings when they hear her story.
You’re making the same mistake same mistake other posters are making. Top choice amongst Democrats doesn’t mean they add the most to the ticket. It’s perfectly conceivable that (made up numbers) that 60% of Democrats prefer Harris and 40% prefer Warren. However the 60% that prefer Harris might be 95% likely to vote Biden and the 40% that prefer might be 70% likely to vote Biden. In which case adding Warren is going to be the better addition to the ticket because she solidifies shakier ground they Biden needs to consolidate while Harris is just double dipping.

Now those numbers were just an example, but overall the last few months of polls are very clear that Warren is the person that does add the most strength to enhance the ticket. And name value does matter. I would imagine any woman not named Warren or a Harris is going to have very minimal impact on a ticket.

Now all that said, that might not matter at the end of the day. Maybe Biden thinks he’s fine and wants to just go to someone who isn’t known nationally and won’t make waves and disrupt his run and someone like Warren could distract attention. These are all possibilities.

My overall point is though, of the names being considered, the strongest ticket is Biden/Warren. It may mean that getting there is too much of a headache for Biden it might rub his inner circle the wrong way. But at the most basic goal, Warren fits the bill.

Personally if I was him I might just go Duckworth because she won’t cost anything and she’ll be hard to attack or distract from the campaign and things are going well, that’s another valid strategy. I think Bass fits that mold well too (not as much as Duckworth).

Likewise I think Warren adds the most but she might be a distraction and Trump will go all in on her. I think Harris is kind of even worse in that she adds less but she has similar weak points that could be attacked (BLM will have serious issues with her record and she’s never had a good answer for that).

It also just might not matter. Biden might already have this locked up and that gives Biden flexibility to be as pragmatic and calculated for his agenda as he wants

I think you just got to be real and understand they Biden was a safe pick that was tied to a popular admin that people felt comfortable going with to get Trump out without starting a hissy fit in the party . As far as I’m concerned he’s a means to an end that we desperately need to get to

    Sure.

That said, I'll buy into the guy being Jack The Giant Killer when I start seeing the giants dropping. Otherwise, I'm just going to vote for the Joe Biden that has been on the right side of some stuff and hope for the best.

On this date in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, as well as 2019, that "Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day" published profiles of Tony Perkins, a former Louisiana state legislator who has gone on to speak in front of the white supremacist group the Council of Conservative Citizens before he started the anti-gay hate group, the Family Research Council, and has been allowed over the past several Republican National Conventions to participate in writing the Republican Party Platform as a Platform Committee member from the Louisiana delegation. In our first look at this Fundamentalist whack-job, we noted how he wants Creationism and Christian science taught in schools, how he defended Todd Akin’s “legitimate rape” remarks, his attempts to buy David Duke’s mailing lists, his support of Uganda’s “kill the gays” law, blamed increases on military suicides on the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, and had warned that gay rights would lead to the complete extinction of the human race. So yeah, we thought he was rather a mental zealot already.

Our year two peek-in on Tony Perkins saw him continue his anti-gay ramblings, continuing support of “pray the gay” away efforts, while warning that a Holocaust of American Christians is imminent, that gay rights advocates are about to "start hauling out boxcars", advised parents to pull their children out of public schools because of the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling, and claimed the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage would "trigger an uprising". He talked about how the misconception many on the right-wing have that President Obama is actually a Muslim... is Obama's own fault (Perkins has repeatedly gone Birther, unprovoked). Oh, and he said that President Obama was deliberately spreading the Ebola Virus in the United States and that he "despises our military" and wants to destroy it. Perkins said that overturning Citizens United would anger the Founding Fathers (who actually believed the exact opposite). Perkins talked about how ISIS and their Jihad are the "true Muslims practicing their faith", that the Constitution does not apply to American Muslims, that a separation of church and state in the United States can only help ISIS, and that Dearborn Michigan has those Muslim “no go” zones (it doesn’t). In a crossover of his gay bigotry and Islamic hate, Perkins has also repeatedly stated that gay rights are "encourage ISIS", and predicts that as a result of that tolerance towards gays, pastors will be "dragged out of churches kicking and screaming". We also advise that someone give Tony Perkins a biology lesson, since he has theorized that gay marriage approval would lead to a "surge in the U.S. prison population".

And, in our third review of hatemonger Tony Perkins, we talked about how he summarized the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling as "Obama shaking his fist in the face of God", his warnings about how God's judgment will fall upon America if Republicans fail to defund Planned Parenthood, and how he commented on Texas high school Ahmed Mohammed, being arrested for building a homemade clock by saying the teen "could blow up the White House." (It still was’t a bomb.) Perkins also gave his thoughts on women serving in combat, and said their presence in America's military is a result of "the emsaculation of our culture". Tony Perkins also took the very Christian point of view that refugee resettlement shows proof that "the president and the left hate America". And defended the idea from presidential candidate Donald Trump to ban all Muslims from emigrating to the United States by saying, "Only 16 percent of Islam is religion" so it wouldn't violate anyone's freedom of religion. He also criticized the Obama administration for negotiating with Iran, saying "Reagan would never do that" (conveniently forgetting Reagan did that and it was Iran-Contra). Tony Perkins has insisted that Christians are being forced into "spiritual ghettos", that Donald Trump would be "100 Percent" better for the LGBTQ community than Hillary Clinton as president (that’s not holding up well), and throwing a fit because a U.S. Navy ship was being named after Harvey Milk.

Tony Perkins praised Donald Trump for getting the backing of the Alt-Right (Neo-Nazis and White Nationalists) by saying, Trump gave “voice to a lot of people who feel like their voice has all but been snuffed out under this administration.” We noted his marked transphobia after Perkins’ assertion that it would be better to disband the United States military rather than allow it to have transgender service members serve in it, referring to them as a “cultural grenade”, and how he later complained about the Boy Scouts allowing transgender scouts in its ranks, saying that "American culture has been emasculated by the feminists and by the left,” to the detriment of western civilization. In a rather terrifying moment in May of 2017, Perkins assesses that Donald Trump is a “God-given opportunity to reshape America in His image.” (Pretty sure there’s nothing in the Bible about an orange prophet with a bad hairpiece and a mouth that looks like a butthole, Tony.) Tony Perkins continues to spew hate and bigotry while remaining a fixture of the Republican Party in baffling ways. He views the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” as the beginning of a generational war on Christians, and in October of 2017, he actually blamed the increase in military sexual assault on… wait for it… straight men in the service being too threatened by gays and lesbians being allowed to serve along side them.

Moving on… and this should come as no surprise… Tony Perkins is a motherf***ing hypocrite. It would be one thing if all we had to report was how he defended Roy Moore during his campaign for Senate even while for years Moore was noted as a homophobe, bigot, and general crazy person, but to dig in and defend him after he was outed as a serial pedophile?

But no, that’s not all. After spending almost a decade commenting about how Barack Obama wasn’t truly a Christian, and promoting the myth that he was some stealth-Jihad member or something, Tony Perkins decided that he couldn’t question the faith of Donald Trump, and awarded him a “mulligan” after it was revealed Trump had an affair with a porn star after his wife had given birth to their son. That isn’t a one-off, either, because when Perkins was cornered about his double standard, he dug in and insisted he and other Evangelical Christians would not be confronting Trump over his affair with Stormy Daniels (to say nothing of the multiple other women who Trump had affairs with, and signed hush agreements with).

By June of 2019, this fanatic was participating in “National Day of Prayer” events to get as many Evangelicals together and use their deepest supposedly-holy influence to pray for Donald Trump to resist the evil Deep State. No, really, the website for the event had that written on it. In September of 2018, Perkins reacts to Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony at the confirmation hearings for Brett Kavanaugh to be a Supreme Court Justice by claiming he was being “railroaded because of the constitutionalism he stands for”. In 2019, he sendt out a letter through the Family Research Council asking his followers to sign an online pledge to commit to “pray against impeachment” on behalf of Donald Trump, and began panicking over events where drag queens are reading to children by yelling, “That’s my child, I bought them into the world. get your hands off!” and that fathers should go to the events and “flip some tables” because it’s that easy to threaten Tony Perkins’ masculinity. On May 30th, 2019, Perkins blamed Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky for why Clinton could not have had Osama bin Laden killed prior to 9/11, which was, of course, completely out of touch with reality.

And, the past year has continued to show us that Tony Perkins is a lunatic:

And again, for whatever reason, this homophobic, theocratic douchebag with ties to genocidal maniacs and White Supremacists was allowed to help write the Republican Party Platform in 2016. We again would like to thank the website Right Wing Watch for helping us keep tabs on the ugliest moments to come from Tony Perkins and his Family Research Council from the past twelve months.

Again, we cannot state how insane it is that a man with ties to multiple hate groups, who runs his own, and is now embracing the Alt-Right media wing of the GOP is allowed to help write the GOP Party Platform every four years. The Republican Party not only lets Tony Perkins help shape their policy behind the scenes, they treat him as a strong endorsement and voice from their Evangelical wing. In reality, he’s a festering boil they should have lanced over a decade ago.

Oh WBE, got another one: Jessi Ebben running in Wisconsin for the State Senate. I just saw this advertisement on the news.

Local news interviewed her and, of course, there was BS.

Jessi Ebben is facing off against Derrick Van Orden in the Republican primary. Currently Ebben works in public relations for a health care organization.

When asked about mask mandates and safer-at-home orders as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ebben said she was against them and called them "an infringement on our personal liberties."

Ebben said wearing a mask should be left up to each individual.

As the federal government works to reach an agreement on a second COVID-19 stimulus package, Ebben hopes liability coverage is included.

"With the first stimulus package what was missed, and is now hopefully going to be included in the next on as they work through it, is liability coverage for those businesses, universities, schools, non-profits. That they have protection if there is a case that occurs there," she said.

Ebben also said she would like to see a focus on reopening schools in the next stimulus package.
Here she is bragging about Jim Jordan's endorsement.

.@Jim_Jordan has dismantled the establishment’s status quo and is an unparalleled defender of our Constitution and @realDonaldTrump. It’s an honor to have his endorsement, and I look forward to working with him to shake up Washington, D.C. and stop gov’t from abusing its power. https://t.co/GU9KqVN80r

    More questionable tweets.

This may be hard for her to admit, but #DefundThePolice and increased crime are highly linked, both violent & nonviolent alike.
Powerfully accurate! Our nation's stability hinges on the function of our Law and Order! Any aspiring leader of our free world that even toys with the idea of defunding or getting rid of law and order should never have any type of power.@JoeBiden is dangerously weak.#LawAndOrder
It is clear these are not protesters, and this is not about Black Lives Matter. These are trained, well-funded anarchists who are hiding behind the shields of these advocacy groups- with the main purpose to cause destruction and promote violence.
    https://t.co/ttPU04zgvW

Siiiiigh. Another for the pile WBE.

"Says the black pot that sits upon MAGA gear that they think no one can see plainly under it?"

Perhaps you'd like to expand on that phrase?
What is that, besides a deflection of actual valid criticism?

Joe Biden has had a long, and sometimes spotty, career.
We can't just accuse anyone who points that out as Trump-loving racist. I just don't see how that helps.
I'd prefer silence over that childishness.
