I wouldn't necessarily say defund the police (though I fully agree about rethinking their jobs, holding them accountable, removing the military weapons, and placing more emphasis on social programs to be proactive instead of reactive) as much as I would say do something about the Police Unions. How can you trust the Police if their Unions support a President who is impeached and, once he leaves office, will most likely be arrested by them?

The Police Unions are the ones that are twisting the Police into a Lovecraftian monstrosity.

I wonder what black officers think about Trump and his racist mindset which has been evident for decades and does very little to keep secret, or how Latino officers feel about a monster like Stephen Miller who authored the policy of kids from south of the border being put in cages?

I agree with this. I especially love your use of Lovecraft considering what a massive racist he was.

When they did that tribute to Beau Biden, I just felt bad for Hunter (I had reasons). Then I found out that Joe and Jill have a daughter together, Ashley. It looked like the granddaughters featured are the daughters of Beau and Hunter.

I hope the whole family is ready for this, it's not going to be the same cakewalk it was when Biden became vice-President.

To paraphrase eye-rolling stuff Bannon had stated not long ago, he looks like he hopes Kamala Harris will be some kind of 2020 Michelle Obama, hopelessly losing a "fair" election against the Winston Churchill of our time, meaning Donald Trump hugging a COVID-flag rallied around red wave election. At which point he might as well expect the Nazi/ICE/QAnon etc. paratroopers storming him out of jail regardless of charges or where he's at.

The problem is that conservatives are living in an alternate reality of mental gymnastics that Rod Serling wouldn't have imagined. Most of my family and old school mates are small town conservatives. My sister just sent me a video about how the democrats have been willing to destroy our economy to destroy Trump's biggest positive accomplishment. A standard joke among Republicans is: When do you think the lockdown, masks and social distancing will end? Answer: the day after the election because, win or lose, it will have served it's only purpose. You see, it's really a plot to bring about these "evil" things called Socialism and Globalism. Trump's allies are being systematically targeted on bogus accusations to make him look bad or, even if everything is true, he's still the only thing stopping the baby murderers and the world government plan which is evil and predicted in the Bible (which is really a clandestine reference to Ancient Rome in reality, btw).

Anyway, I'm not kidding. This isn't Conservative extremism anymore. This insanity is getting to be the average Republican based on just about every conservative I know.

I kind of think it's because we are at a cultural crossroads. Gay rights, Trans rights, genuine equal justice under the law regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or sex/ gender and so on. To a lot of people my age, this must be their view of insanity. To me, it's making the nation live up to it's ideals as a reality. I remember a saying, that you don't convince people in mass to adapt to new ideas. Ideas change because generations die and are replaced by new people who accept new ideas. Eventually, they become the norm and reject the next set of new ideas but they die off to be replaced again.

Seriously, we have a generation of people for whom there's no such thing as evolution or climate change, who really believe people are treated equally regardless of race, who insist this is a Christian nation founded on Christian principles for Christians (regardless that there is written evidence to the contrary), that forced praying in schools is totally okay but only their religion, that nationalism (and let's call it what it is, an ancient tribalism mentality) in a world with our science and technology is a good thing, and on and on and on. They are called Conservatives/ Republicans.

I think a lot of their insanity is because this is their last stand. I certainly hope it is.

I think the low expectations helped Biden with the perception of his speech tonight. Like where did this idea that he is a horrid orator come from? I mean, he isn't the best, and when Obama is the yardstick, forget it. But it's not the speeches that he flubs on. It's when he speaks off the cuff that the gaffes happen. He did exactly as well as I assumed he would. But if you listen to the internet and parts of the media you'd think Biden was in his 90's instead of his 70's. Like damn, did they forget his time as VP? He does what he needs to do.

That being said, keep underestimating him if it gets him higher ratings and reviews. lol.

I thought the speech was pretty good. One of his big criticisms (especially from the Orange Menace) is that he’s low energy or boring. So it was very nice to see Biden speak with some passion in the biggest speech of his political career.

I think it’s a brilliant move to play up Biden’s humanity and compassion. It’s such a stark contrast to the narcissistic sociopath currently in the White House. Showing Joe as someone who knows what it’s like to live through tragedy. Say what you will about him politically, but he really seems like a person with a lot of empathy.

Also loved seeing him with some real fire in his voice at the end.

Totally agree. People having low expectations of his public speaking could actually be a good thing. He’ll never be on an Obama level, but he can still give a rousing speech when he needs to.

From some of the responses I’ve seen on social media, many people were very impressed. It does seem like a lot of people were not expecting much but found themselves really moved by his words. Low expectations is a winning strategy

I get a lot of biased views or people talking at me like I am an idiot for not knowing what is disinformation and dont take time to explain.

    1) You should never apologize for your political viewpoints, if you believe in them, stand up for them. Don't placate to a forum because you want to fit in, if your a gay conservative than be a proud one! I am a centerist that leans left, but if I was pro Trump, I'd be raising hell on this forum, f what people think!....Unfortunately as a centerist, I'm just dull.... plus I'm rooting for Biden/Harris.

    2) If your unsure of your political affiliation try taking some political ideology quizzes to see where you land. Most of them have left leaning questions, so you'll end up further on the left than you probably are, but this one has been around awhile.

Either way, a potentially politically important chess piece has been removed from the game. Not to smart on Bannon's part, he should have known better.
