The first link I posted is straight from the source of the person who wrote it, from Yahoo Life. (Let's cancel kids Star Wars Costumes)

    https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/lets...201414078.html

The second link was from the Washington Post, respectful credible outlet (Stormtroopers' banned from 'Star Wars'-themed college reunion over alleged Nazi inspiration)

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news...r-wars-themed/

If you don't like the daily caller fine, I chose bounding into comics because it showed the tweets, but here is the Adam Driver from yours truly CBR

    https://www.cbr.com/twitter-cancels-...h-new-hashtag/

I remember this stuff building years ago, so if you want me to find left wing articles straight from the source I'm happy to oblige.

In a weird twist, this opinion article called the new Star Wars movies racist because the Stormtrooper was black.

and recently the SJW's turned their cancel culture ire towards Kylo Ren, for joining the Marines after 911.

If this was just a seldom one off, I wouldn't be concerned, but it's been going on for awhile now, and it's one of the worst examples out there of fruit loop ideology.
Having lived in a pre-Internet culture, I do realize that a lot of this stuff on both sides is extremist or would be without the Internet to give everybody a platform. Hence, it gets more attention and more kowtowing than it deserves. For instance, until this moment, I had no idea Adam Driver had been in the Marines let alone why. And, yes, it's absolutely fruit loops. It's the kind of thing Bill Maher would use as an example to argue that all cancel culture is fruit loops. Or, as Maher would put it, I wish they'd say that to me so I could tell them to go f*** themselves.

It would be no big deal except that these sorts of people have learned they can often get their way by applying public pressure. In this case, apparently not. But, in far too many cases, it does work. Worse yet, it obscures real cases because then people who want to keep statues of Confederate generals try to present that as if it's in the same category.

It's like anything trivial and absurd that latches onto the coattails of a serious matter.

Most times I read a headline about trump it makes me feel like I'm reading The Onion.

The Washington Times is not the Washington Post. Another is one guy's opinion. The last was a bunch of nobody tankies on twitter. Adam Driver is still getting leading roles.

    Cancel.
    Culture.
    Doesn't.
    Exist.

Let me know when Colin Kaepernick gets a paying job in the NFL again.

Meanwhile, supposedly cancelled racist Covington Kids gets a job with the McConnel campaign.

I love Bill Maher, were pretty much on the same page with things, and this cancel culture is really creepy, it has a totalitarian aspect that gets people to comply out of fear for simple infractions that hardly could be defined as racist or sexist.

And of course the far left always start to eat their own, I have much respect for Noam Chomsky even though I consider him on the far left, but the old bugger has drawn the ire of the new far left for writing a petition to stop it.

Even The Young Turks, (Which is pretty left) are realizing that cancel culture is becoming a problem.

That's because the Young Turks and Cenk have actually faced censure for their misogynistic behavior before. It's funny how people become against 'cancel culture' when what's really happening is they're facing pushback they think should be immune to.

Consequences for shitty behavior is not 'cancel culture'. Cenk is still mad he scored in single digits in his election, but hey, the Turks still have a massive platform.

Meanwhile, as much respect as I have for a lot of Noam's work, he's still a genocide-denier.

If criticizing a gencide denier and calling him to account for it is 'eating our own', maybe that's for the best.

Funny how people equate a few leftist nobodies on the internet with the leaders of the Conservative political Party.
    But both sides, huh?
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

They've been hard at work stripping you of your ability to enact political and social change with your vote, so now they want to take your ability to make them face social stigma for it as well.

I however can easily pull up numerous sources on hashtag cancel culture Kylo Ren for joining the Marines, quote other previous sources and offer more to your liking.
Bounding into Comics is affiliated with Comicsgate, it's like linking to Fox News. They have no credibility.

I already replaced that link with a CBR, and explained why I used it, see the first post above, as well as offered other sources from left wing sources, or straight from the post

but while I am here, I just want to say I have much love for Cornel West, even though he's close to being on the far left, and yet he too is against cancel culture. Ah the wisdom of the old.

It's a media invention as described. What you're describing as 'cancel culture' is a moral panic being further invented by the media over powerful people finally having to face social stigma because the gatekeepers of opinion no longer have as much control as they used to.

The real 'cancel culture' that has existed for centuries has a name and it is called 'White supremacy'.

Louis CK masturbated in front of female coworkers. Still rich and still selling out concerts.

"OH NO SOMEONE DOESN'T WANT ME TO WEAR MY STORMTROOPER UNIFORM WHILE WE HAVE A LITERALLY FASH PRESIDENCY! I AM BEING CANCELLLLLLLLED while major newspapers report on how CANCELLED I am."

    It's absurd.

Supposedly cancelled people are speaking to millions at the request of the president of the USA and yet they're SO CANCELLED.

It's complete nonsense because the people who are supposedly 'cancelling' you have *no power to actually do so*.

The choice to no longer consume, however, is a *threat* that must be stomped out.

WHooo whee! How far to the left do you have to be after having Bill Maher speak out against cancel culture, The Young Turks speak out against cancel culture, Noam Chomsky speak out against cancel culture, Cornel West speak out on cancel culture on a public broadcasting network PBS that leans socialist, but yet it's all just invented by the powerful so they can continue with institutionalized white supremacy. You go comrade! lol.

Oh, I dunno. Why would Bill Maher speak against cancel culture? Because he almost got cancelled. For being an Islamophobic bigot. And still should be.

Why would the Young Turks speak out against it? Because Cenk Uygur almost got cancelled for being a misogynist.

Like half the examples here have a vested personal interest in covering their ass by arguing against accountability for past remarks. And they sure as hell don't speak for all liberals.
