It is so sad that we in America have reached a state in our politics that General Milley even felt that he had to address this. I mean how mess up is it that we as Americans have to fear that a sitting president will try and use military force to stay in power if he loses.

I have always had views on the way the country should be. I never really gave much thought to politics or social issues until recently. At least the last couple years. This last year has been very hard. Things that I was raised to believe and things I thought for myself have been proven false. I never viewed the police as the bad guys. They were her to protect people and maintain order. All people should be treat equally no matter their race, religion, sexuality, or political stance. A president even if I did not agree with all of their views always had the best interest of the country at heart. And I always thought that aside from a few extreme people or bad apples that this was the case. Then I started to pay attention, started to read and learn what was really going on.

Police who murder innocent men simply because they are POC. Politicians actively passing laws to restrict groups of people from being equal, people who defend a racist kid who murdered two people who were protesting these thing. A protest which was legal and should be welcomed in a free speech country. Media and our politicians vilifying these people for daring to be upset with what is going on. Men of God who use the bible as a way to justify their sexist, homophobic, racist views. A president who breaks the law as often as he changes suits and his political cronies who let him get away with it and do nothing. A President I fear will lead the country into a civil war if he loses. This is not the America I thought I knew.

Maybe I was foolish to think America was the way I thought it was. Maybe the upset feeling I am going through is my fault because I just did not pay attention. But it is hard to have things you believed in your whole life come crashing down in such away.
