I live in NV, at the AZ border and while I do see Biden ads, there is a deluge of Trump ads currently. Those are 2 swing states in this election, with NV leaning blue and AZ leaning red (according to recent history if not the latest polls).
    Dark does not mean deep.

Charles McMillon Jr. was dropping off a U-Haul van with his young son and childhood friend Kendrick Clemons when out of nowhere bullets started flying.

They had just parked the van at a U-Haul drop-off at Fountain Plaza on Apalachee Parkway and were sitting in McMillon’s truck getting ready to go. As he typed in the mileage on a phone app, a gunshot rang out.

They looked back and saw an older couple coming toward them, both pointing guns in their direction. The couple yelled “Don’t move!” and other commands to surrender.

Remember how Conservatives were trying to paint Rittenhouse as a good young man who was defending America ? Today in this news link this went into crapper as this claims to be Rittenhouse involved in trying to fight girls his age a week before.

I live in Pennsylvania, said to be a swing state. Here in Philly, Democrats rule the roost, however, an insane spate of gun related deaths in 2020 (just over 300 as of today, didn't reach that number until October last year) could give Trump's "Law and Order" spiel traction (he's scheduled to be in town on the 15th), especially with disgruntled whites and a police union that has little love for the progressive minded D.A. who used to be a defense attorney before winning the job. The real concern is the western half of the state (jokingly called "Pennsyltucky") with scores of right leaning, god fearing, abortion hating, Second Amendment loving small town types who went with Trump in 2016 and probably will again.

If there was ever a person who desperately needed a reality check, it's Donald Trump. Problem is, those around him, for whatever reason, are keeping him in a protective bubble which allows him to say and do whatever he wants without any kickback that actually sticks.

It's as I've said scores of times in this thread: keeping Trump in office keeps the GOP in power, and if that means coddling him 24/7 like a colicky infant while turning a deaf ear to his crazed ravings and endless lies, so be it. Everyone from Moscow Mitch on down knows Trump is a loose cannon at best and borderline deranged at worst, but they have no choice but to protect him because their careers literally depend on it. Republicans could've impeached Trump back in January or dropped the hammer that's the 25th Amendment on him long ago but refused, they know if they lose him, they lose his fanatically loyal base. Sure, Mike Pence would bring sanity and stability back to the Oval Office, but he doesn't move the needle even a tiny bit with hardcore, ride or die Trump lemmings, and without that support, the GOP is cooked like last night's fried chicken. So, the only thing that will burst the Trump bubble is a loss in November.

Even then if Trump challenges it , they will back him more than likely. To try and destroy our electoral process to keep him in power. Its sad but even if by some miracle Trump loses in November he could very well try to stay in with crazy legal challenges to stop from leaving.

But a new paper from Vanderbilt University political scientist Larry Bartels suggests an alternative hypothesis: Many Republican voters value “keeping America great” more than they value democracy — and, by “keeping America great,” such voters typically mean “keeping America’s power structure white.”

In a January 2020 survey fielded by YouGov, a slim majority of GOP voters agreed with the statement “The traditional American way of life is disappearing so fast that we may have to use force to save it.” Nearly three-fourths agreed with “It is hard to trust the results of elections when so many people will vote for anyone who offers a handout.” More than 40 percent agreed that “a time will come when patriotic Americans have to take the law into their own hands.” More than 47 percent concurred with the premise that “strong leaders sometimes have to bend the rules in order to get things done.” And on all of these questions, most of those who did not agree were merely unsure.

Well, Trump doesn't have any options either. The day after he leaves office, the state of New York will come calling to haul his orange ass into court, possibly ending with a prison term. Sure, he could've avoided that by resigning, then having Pence take over and pardon him, but that wouldn't have worked for two reasons: 1) Trump's ego won't allow him to quit, 2) I don't think he trusts Pence to do him that solid. So, we're stuck with Trump until at least late January if he loses, hopefully no longer.

It seems that according to the article, people weren't polled that much explicitly about white supremacy. Instead other questions were used as proxies for it, even if those questions aren't exclusively about race, like “the traditional American way of life is disappearing so fast" or “things have changed so much that I often feel like a stranger in my own country.”

Many liberals would say they don't recognize the country that voted for Trump, and they're not expressing their racism.

Xenophobia, measured by views on questions like whether "speaking English is “essential for being a true American,” is also distinct from racism (although there is going to be much overlap, and many of the people who don't like recent immigrants also don't like African-Americans whose ancestors all came to the country centuries ago.)
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

Context matters, Mets. I know you'd like for all of us to be able to continue turning a blind eye to the baked in white supremacy of the party you contine to support, but it's long been evidenced by your party's embrace of a white supremacist authoritarian that whiteness is valued more than democracy.

Pence also would not be able to pardon him for any state crimes. Those are outside the federal jurisdiction.

    Presidents sometimes make weird jokes.

The alternative is that Obama was willing to have the Jonas brothers killed if they went near his daughters.

Yes, one Obama joke is totally equal to three dozen nasty, vindictive comments made by Trump.

I forgot that since democrats actually have some shame, their mistakes count for more.

Time and time again, you give Trump the benefit of the doubt, mets. You only have to listen to the clip to see that he has is not joking. Trump doesn't joke anyway. He mocks, he insults, but he doesn't joke.
