There is a lot of talk on the economy and Trump supporters like my aunt say Trump is not to blame because the states are the ones who shut down. yes when the starts started to reopen bars and restaurants and other places Trump and his supporters talked about what a great job he is doing reopening things and getting jobs back. it does not work both ways. If he are going to try and take the credit then he needs to take the blame as well.

He cant blame a bad economy on the states when they decide to shut down yet take the credit for a rebounding economy when those same states decide to reopen.

I thought that was what it's about. Typical con behavior. Woman disagreeing with the "liberal line" is one thing, them trying to impose that on others is quite another.

Doesn’t matter, they have the power to put her there and once she’s there the conservatives on the court have the power to enforce it. Politics is about power. It’s about getting it, maintaining it, and knowing how to wield it.

You aren’t going to win appealing to their morality. Which is apparently the strategy of every Democrat in Congress right now “we’ll they said this in 2016 and now they are doing this”. When it comes to these fights, play for power and then make what you want happen. God knows they are.

The economy was already in a downturn before the pandemic hit. All COVFEFE-19 did was disguise that fact by making things worse.

That's just it, though ... Mister Mets has claimed that if the circumstances were reversed, the Democrats would have behaved in exactly the same way, and I really don't think that's true. I don't think Senate Democrats would have blocked a Supreme Court seat for the better part of a year, as the Republicans did in 2016. And if Democrats did draw some hard line about principles and the way the government is supposed to work at the end of one president's term, they definitely would not be able to just reverse on that with no consequence just four years later.

Leftists/Liberals/Democrats/Whatever tend to hold their politicians to task even for stuff they did or said literally decades in the past. Blatant hypocrisy and maneuvering would tend to have some repercussion for Democrat politicians; even if it served immediate goals, it would likely lose them the coalition support they need to continue. Voters on the left actually care if their politicians seem to have no real ethics.

While those on the right seem to think the ends always justifies the means.

True. If they weren't talking about how Covid has affected the world economy, they'd still be talking about how trade war has.

All of that and more. Democrats continue playing by the rules while Republicans **** on same, often with relish. Hypocrisy on filling RBG's seat? Hell yeah, Republicans don't even bother hiding it because Dems can't do anything about it. Morality? Give me a break! The GOP doesn't have any, doesn't give a **** about it, never did, they're all about power, nothing less. One of my biggest criticisms of Barack Obama was his dogged insistence to reaching his hand across the aisle to build a bipartisan coalition with Republicans, only to have it bitten by those bastards time after time after time. For those who say Republicans hatred for Obama was due to his being black, that can't be denied even though no one would openly admit it, but if he were white, nothing would have changed, he still would've been stonewalled by Moscow Mitch. Democrats need to stop being Boy Scouts and get down and dirty with Republicans who've shown they'll do anything, and I do mean ANYTHING to win.

At some point, we have to ask ourselves if it is accedptable to us to have a Supreme Court dominated by the far right, created through procedural chicanery and luck, that is in no way reflective of the kind of presidents people have voted for by majority. Regardless of 'the rules', it's deeply destabilizing to have a 6-3 super majority of arch conservatives rolling back popular progress, abortion rights, and even Lochnar being a policy that they'll stretch to return to.

If a majority of people can not elect a government that is reflectove of their interests, we are well on our way to a serious crises of legitimacy.

The Democrats *should* resort to court packing, but the media accepts chicanery from the GOP because it's well understood that they don't have any principles and thus they are never, ever treated with the same snobby disdain that Democrats are when they are required to get ruthless -- and they should. They must, or our collapse into inevitable, illiberal minority rule is assured.

The really worrisome part of it all is there's vast swaths of voters who don't WANT such a benevolent government. All they care about is that Trump, McConnell and the GOP are "owning the libs", returning blacks to the back of the bus, rechaining women to their stoves and shoving gays back into the closet. I think I read somewhere that a new chant heard at a recent Trump rally was "Fill that seat!", those idiots have no idea how a dangerously right leaning SCOTUS will negatively affect everyone, including Trumpanzees over time.

The Trump campaign is discussing plans to ask state representatives to set aside the election results in their state and select Trump electors *even if Trump loses the vote in their state.*

That would be the death of American democracy. That is not an overstatement. It’s a fact.

The Election That Could Break America

A lot of people, including Joe Biden, the Democratic Party nominee, have mis*conceived the nature of the threat. They frame it as a concern, unthinkable for presidents past, that Trump might refuse to vacate the Oval Office if he loses. They generally conclude, as Biden has, that in that event the proper authorities “will escort him from the White House with great dispatch.”

The worst case, however, is not that Trump rejects the election outcome. The worst case is that he uses his power to prevent a decisive outcome against him. If Trump sheds all restraint, and if his Republican allies play the parts he assigns them, he could obstruct the emergence of a legally unambiguous victory for Biden in the Electoral College and then in Congress. He could prevent the formation of consensus about whether there is any outcome at all. He could seize on that un*certainty to hold on to power.
Trump’s state and national legal teams are already laying the groundwork for postelection maneuvers that would circumvent the results of the vote count in battleground states. Ambiguities in the Constitution and logic bombs in the Electoral Count Act make it possible to extend the dispute all the way to Inauguration Day, which would bring the nation to a precipice. The Twentieth Amendment is crystal clear that the president’s term in office “shall end” at noon on January 20, but two men could show up to be sworn in. One of them would arrive with all the tools and power of the presidency already in hand.

And Ted Cruz really wants to fight McConnell and Paul for biggest Senate ******* of the year it seems.

Texas Republican @tedcruz blocks resolution honoring Ginsburg for mentioning her dying wish to keep seat open for next president; Dems fire back, saying, “To turn Justice #Ginsburg’s dying words against her is so, so beneath the dignity of this body.” #RBG
