Huh. Well, if he dies in the next couple of weeks, I guess that makes Pence the candidate. I mean, it's not like his dying right at the end of his term would mean we were not about to elect a President for the next four years.
Honestly, while I still don't quite have it in me to just hope for someone (even has horrible as Trump) to die ... since I would be super surprised to see Pence somehow beat Biden if he suddenly inherits the Republican ticket at the last moment ... there would be a kind of perversely perfect irony, if Trump's bid for a second term was prevented by his untimely death, from a virus that would not have spread as badly under a more competent administration.
Of course, his death would also make him some kind of right wing martyr, so a toss up as to whether for the better or worse, in the long run.

Be kind to me, or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine
I guess Hydroxy doesn't prevent covid-19.
Who would have thought.
Their probably going to continue to blame the Chinese.
If weren’t for the pandemic, and cratering economy then I’d say it’s likely a untimely death could bolster a hypothetical presidential candidate Pence, but the President’s base has been shrinking slowing largely do his utterly disastrous handling of the Pandemic. Now don’t get me wrong, Trump’s hardcore base is still devoted to him more than ever before but he just isn’t as strong as as he was three years ago, politically, he’s still very unpopular amongst the wider electorate, even more so than he was before he became President. If he were to suffer an untimely death now because of this, then I think it would charge the more hardcore cultish factions of his base, but it’s not like he’s been murdered by some left-wing extremist. He’d died of a highly contagious disease, in no small part due to his own negligence and minimizing the severity of the crisis. So this is a wound he’s inflicted on himself. Therefore be a catalyst for some major ‘Red Wave’ to boost a Pence’s campaign in any real way.

Call me a cynic but I don’t think he has COVID. this will get him out of the next debate and when he miraculously “recovers” it will give him something to brag about to his cult.
“See, it’s no worse than a common cold!”
It'll make his people less afraid of the virus if they see Trump get it and make a full recovery.

Speaking of which:
The timing is suspicious as hell, coming 48 hours after the debate debacle where Trump got his orange ass reamed from coast to coast and the world over for his horrendous performance. Anyone out there who thinks Trump wouldn't use a deadly virus that's killed over 200,000 people as a cheap political stunt to prop himself up hasn't been paying attention.

I've been skeptical too about the Trump covid-19 announcement.
But why i'm a bit conflicted is that this pretty much torpedoes his campaign for re-election. He can't hold those stupid rallies and it paints him very badly because if you can't protect yourself as President from covid-19, how can you protect the country??

Trump's deranged followers could care less that their god emperor couldn't protect the country since most of them still think the virus is a hoax, so this won't affect their support for him one iota. As for the rallies, they're more for his bloated ego so he can bask in cheers and spew bullshit grievances to mindless mouth breathers who hate the same things (minorities, women, gays, non-Christians) he does. Meanwhile, the news resigns Biden and whatever momentum he gained from Tuesday's debate to the background while no one will be talking about "Stand back and stand by" or Trump's tax cheating. Damned convenient if you ask me.
