It's because they see themselves often as good, just, morale people, who don't deserve anything bad to happen to them. While those others are sinners who clearly deserve it in some way or another.

There's a lot of "prosperity doctrine" ie. Good things happen to good people, bad people gets what's coming to them thought there, and a general lack of empathy for anyone with a different viewpoint.

Pretty much this. There IS a radical left, but it is a smaller group that has little power in the Democratic party. Meanwhile, the radical right is IN CHARGE of the Republican party. One of those things is more concerning than the other.

It’s actually more that the Republican Party is hard right to radical right and the Democratic Party is center right to center left

Rick Scott said he had coronavirus and then his staff later said he misspoke and he tested negative. Either way, there's more senators going to end up sick. Just wait...

And Senator Rick Scott says he tested positive even though he did NOT, because he is jealous of the attention all the others are getting.

Cal Cunningham, the challenger to Senator Thom Tillis in North Carolina, has a minor sex scandal.

It was a crazy 24 hours in North Carolina's Senate race: Just a few hours after Republican Sen. Thom Tillis reported a positive coronavirus diagnosis on Friday evening, his Democratic opponent Cal Cunningham admitted to sending romantic texts to a woman who is not his wife.

The events have upended what's seen as a must-win race for Senate control. Cunningham said he would not drop out of the race after the text messages were revealed on Friday evening, while Tillis had to close his campaign headquarters and quarantine ahead of confirmation hearings for a Supreme Court vacancy.

That's not all. Cunningham has to get tested now, after he had shared the debate stage with Tillis on Thursday night. Cunningham went into that debate riding high after reporting a state record $28.3 million in fundraising in the third quarter of this year, evidence of how firmly the Democratic Party is behind him in the most expensive contest on the Senate map. But by late Friday night the entire race had been scrambled.

In a statement on Saturday morning, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee indicated it was sticking with Cunningham.

“North Carolinians are supporting Cal because he will protect health care coverage for pre-existing conditions, fight to bring down the costs of prescription drugs, and help our country recover from this crisis. We are confident that he will bring the same courage and determination to the Senate as he has while serving our country in uniform," said Lauren Passalacqua, a spokesperson for the DSCC.

Jesse Hunt, a spokesperson for the Senate Republican campaign arm, suggested more bad news could drop on Cunningham down the stretch.

"These are very troubling allegations, and Cal needs to be fully transparent with the voters of North Carolina. We know there is more to this story, Cal knows there is more to this story, and he needs to come clean with voters so they can make the appropriate judgment on whether he’s fit for office," Hunt said.

The stakes couldn't be higher for Senate control. Democrats need to net at least three seats to win back the majority, and North Carolina has been seen as a potential tipping point state by both parties. It's unclear how Cunningham's text messages or Tillis's positive diagnosis might affect the polls, which have narrowly favored Cunningham.

Cunningham sent several text messages to a woman in which the two discussed kissing and hypothetically spending the night together, according to screenshots of the messages that were posted online Thursday. The messages were originally posted by the right-wing website NationalFile.com and confirmed by the News & Observer of Raleigh, N.C., late Friday.

Cunningham's campaign also confirmed the authenticity of the text messages to POLITICO.
The mayor of Rochester, NY just got arrested on two felony campaign finance charges.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren has been indicted on two felony campaign finance charges, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley announced Friday.

The first charge is for first-degree scheme to defraud; the second is an election law offense for illegally coordinating activities and expenditures.

The grand jury indictment is connected to Warren's 2017 mayoral re-election campaign. Warren has adamantly refused any wrongdoing in the matter.

Warren will be arraigned at 4 p.m. Oct. 5 in front of Cayuga County Judge Thomas Leone. She did not provide immediate comment Friday.

If convicted of the felony charges, Warren would be removed from office under state law. The maximum sentence would be 16 months to four years in prison. While Warren would be unlikely to be incarcerated, her pension could be forfeited if the matter is determined to be a crime related to public office, and she also could lose her law license.

The announcement of criminal charges is not a conviction but adds another major crisis for the already embattled mayor. Her term ends next year.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

How is it fake if the people who claimed it to be fake are the ones that got sick? The very perspective doesn't even make any sense.
Yeah it’s almost as if people who wear masks, social distance, and don’t gather in large groups are less likely to contract the virus. Whoda thunk it?

Seems like England had its radicals in power in the opposition Labour party, but that lost them the working class support in the last election. The Republican strategy - and this was probably unintentional - has been to demonize the radical left as if it was running the Democratic party and that galvanized the radical right and Christian Conservatives from Reagan on. Reagan really applied the anti-Communist propaganda of the Cold War - the thing that got him into politics in the first place as he opposed and pretty much eliminated the influence of communists in Hollywood unions - to the Liberal democrats of the 80's and the propaganda factory there is now an institution among conservatives.

However, to be honest, it does seem like liberal democrats today - a.k.a. "moderates" - are just as likely to be attacked by progressives as they are to face attacks from conservatives. It's much easier to smear and ostracize a liberal figure than a conservative or far right one. Of course, having people like Harvey Weinstein or Jeffrey Epstein as strong supporters doesn't help.

The argument is that Democratic operatives have been infecting Republicans via tainted microphones, door handles and cotton swabs.

Minnesota Republicans fly Delta home from D.C. after COVID-19 exposure

Minnesota’s three Republican congressmen flew home on a Delta flight from Washington, D.C., Friday night, despite airline restrictions on passengers recently exposed to COVID-19-positive people such as President Donald Trump.

U.S. Reps. Pete Stauber, Tom Emmer and Jim Hagedorn all tested negative for COVID-19 on Friday after traveling with Trump on Air Force One to and from a Duluth rally on Wednesday.
The president and first lady tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

Delta policy states that the airline will not allow anyone knowingly exposed to COVID-19 in the past 14 days to travel. Health experts advise a 14-day quarantine after close exposure to someone with COVID-19 even if an initial test proves negative.

In an e-mail Friday night, Delta spokeswoman Gina Laughlin reiterated the airline’s cleaning, distancing and mask-wearing policies.

Well it's more complicated, more pathetic than that. The Labour party has been thoroughly bought by Neoliberal so much that when the party soldiers put forth a nominee who, for all his faults, was proposing solid decent ideas for what needs to be done, they mounted a self-sabotaging party insurgency of the likes you can't believe. Like during the snap elections Theresa May called out, they sabotaged and disobeyed campaign directives despite being in a hair's breadth away from winning Parliament, and these a--holes actually felt down when Labour extended its reach in that election. The truth is that party moderates demand radicals and others to back the platform for the sake of party unity but never extend the same courtesy in return when the radicals get a chance to steer the ship, which happened with Corbyn. I have no doubt that if Sanders won the nomination in 2020, the Dem moderates wouldn't extend the same courtesy of party unity to him that they in turn demanded, and got with full heart, from Sanders and the rest.
