The Australian mogul is disgusted by Trump’s handling of COVID-19, remarking that the president is his own worst enemy and telling associates “people are ready for Sleepy Joe.”
Murdoch wouldn't bury Trump like this if he wasn't sure.

On this date in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, as well as 2018, and 2019, "Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day" published profiles of the U.S. House Representative from Florida's 8th Congressional District, Bill Posey, the U.S. House Representative from Florida's 8th District, the author of HB 1503, aka “The Birther Bill” that would force all presidential candidates to submit their birth certificates. When asked if he believed President Obama was an American citizen in the wake of that, he refused to answer, calling the question “irrelevant”. Posey’s also obsessed with overturning the Affordable Care Act, having participated in every attempt to repeal it, and then voted for the 2013 Government Shutdown to attempt to stop it (also voting against re-opening the government when the time came). His one positive quality is that he wants to fund medical research into autism, but it comes with the caveat that he’s only doing so because he believes it's possible that vaccines cause autism (but not in climate change). He's also been a part of GOP efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, voted against the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, and voted to defund the Department of Homeland Security as part of a Republican temper tantrum over President Obama's executive orders on immigration.

Bill Posey dodged hosting a town hall in 2017 by instead, opting to call his constituents to let them know he was having a telephone town hall… WHILE IT WAS ALREADY UNDER WAY. He was apparently still distressed that upon learning this, ten thousand of his voters bombarded him with complaints, not only about his availability, but how the GOP was planning on exercising control of both Congress and the White House, and defended the move because “Gabby Giffords got shot at a town hall”. His constituents then further berated him, because Giffords herself called on all members of Congress to hold town halls, as their duty remains to the people.

Florida’s 8th Congressional District has a +11 lean in the Cook Partisan Voting Index, an insurmountable advantage towards Bill Posey’s Democratic challenger in 2018, Sanjay Patel. Still, Patel was fundraising well, and that might be why Posey lost it and took it upon himself to say you can identify Patel’s supporters of “having the dumpiest damn house in the neighborhood.” (These are people who live within his district.) Which, GOP class warfare and all that, looking down their nose at those with lower real estate worth. In the end, Posey won re-election with 60% of the vote. Posey has returned to Washington, and resumed being a clueless moron as a legislator:

In 2020, a 72 year old Bill Posey will face off with Jim Kennedy, a 44 year old Navy veteran and aerospace engineer who seems to be more than sharp enough to give Posey a big scare. Especially given the fact that he’s going to be running against a true American patron, and in July of 2018, after Donald Trump gave a bizarre joint press conference with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, where he denied Russians interfered in the 2016 election, effectively siding with the Russian dictator’s denials over his own intelligence community, Bill Posey offered his support to the president, arguing that maybe that interference isn’t so bad, because “America has done it to other countries for the past 50 years”. We haven’t forgotten, and neither should the people of Florida’s 8th.

That a-hole cares only about the bottom line.

I disagree with him about Trump being "his own worst enemy". He's a lot of people's worst enemy in addition to himself.

    Wow.

Rudy Giuliani Uploads Clip of Himself Mocking Asian Accents

The moment came after the apparent end of the episode of “Rudy Giuliani’s Common Sense,” which featured an interview with former Trump press flack Sean Spicer. The intended length of the episode appears to be 18 minutes and 56 seconds, as that’s the moment when Giuliani thanks Spicer for his time, promises another episode in “a couple of days,” and then fades to black.

However, instead of stopping right there, the video keeps playing uninterrupted, displaying only a silent black screen. This continues for another 4 minutes and 29 seconds, at which point Spicer appears onscreen, apparently unaware the video is still recording. Spicer and Giuliani say their farewells as Spicer shuts off his camera, and then the view changes to Giuliani, who can be seen speaking to a couple of people just off camera, one of whom he identifies as conservative YouTuber Jayne Zirkle.

Giuliani says “Jayne, you’re getting too upset about this. You’re gonna be the most famous model in China.” At which point he begins using the stereotypical accent mocking Asian people.

“Ah, get me Jayne Zirkle,” Giuliani, who by the way is Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, says.

“What would you like to have for dinner?” Giuliani says in his normal voice. “Jayne Zirkle pickup, Jayne Zirkle pickup” he continues in the accent.

“I want Jayne Zirkle pickup. Picture Jayne Zirkle,” he says shortly after, still very much using the accent. “No one but Jayne Zirkle.”

“Ah so, Jayne Zirkle,” he says, again still using the accent.

It was a typo. I was tired lol.

Edit - But, yeah, I like laughing so I'll watch Trump. Plus, I find his antics very enjoyable because they are so over the top. I'd miss him if he goes, but hey that ain't happening. I stand by my prediction, Trump will be re-elected.

Nah, it was a typo. Unlike other people who frequently post in the thread to the point of obsession, it's an afterthought for me. I realized my mistake not long afterward but I thought "hey, people will nitpick and overreact so f' it, I'll edit the comment tomorrow". I wasn't disappointed.

This is a gross sentiment I've seen put up by some people. People clearly unaffected by this Administration's awful policies.

Must be nice to sit on the sidelines and chuckle while people are dying.

I think that more people will be watching Trump for all of his gaffes. He'll likely be watching the polls and use them as 'proof' that people like him more.

Record early voting numbers in and around Houston (Harris County) since early voting started Tuesday. Finally made it in to vote after my first meeting today. Good to see the enthusiasm people seem ready to go and get this done. Despite all the GOP efforts to make things as difficult as possible and suppress vote. People are hanging in there lines and all and the politics and obvious efforts to keep people from voting in my view may well backfire. They are being so obvious about it and pissing people off.

Harris County tried to make voting easier during the pandemic. Texas Republicans fought every step of the way.

I don't expect Texas to go Blue yet, but the major cities sure are and if people keep turning up to vote in high numbers like midterms it could happen sooner rather than later.

I think our Governor would be in trouble if he was up for election this year. His botched handling of Covid and the voter suppression efforts of ordering one ballot box per county are highly unpopular. The opening and closing of certain businesses and going against local officials when they wanted stronger COVID social distancing, and mask mandates from the start created the spikes and re closures that left businesses in the lurch and people died from the spikes in cases.
