    One guy's take...

Former President Obama's calls on deportation and The Patriot Act were not at some "That's Fine..." default position just because he was a Democratic President.

Lots of instances where folks have pointed to how "Progressive..." a Biden Presidency could be.

Meanwhile, I'm seeing what looks a lot like the guy's crew feeling out Republicans for potential cabinet positions while I haven't seen the same about anyone "Elizabeth Warren..." or left of there.

While anything could happen, it's not like that isn't noteworthy.

That's great and all but like you are so fond of pointing out about Biden or Obama's policies the reality is somewhere short of that. While I didn't like the board wipe I understood why it happened. And when real people are dying out there and will continue to die and people show up acting like that's a good thing because their tribe won...

Personally the only real solution(if you could call it that) is regardless of the outcome the politics thread is canned election night and for two weeks after so people can stop screaming at the heaven's. Because with the stakes as they are this place will become a moderation burden otherwise.

Honestly, that particular aspect of it ain't my call.

Also a separate issue from the here and now and something that is seemingly a preexisting issue. I noticed some things that seemed like they could be getting into that ballpark, and thought that bringing up something folks might not even have been aware of made sense.

There's not a single poll that has Trump in the lead in Arizona.

    Not one.

In fact, most polls have Biden's lead outside the margin of error, and only one recent poll has had Trump within a point. Even if you give Trump Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Iowa and Arizona, hje only gets to 258 electoral votes.

If republicans want to win, maybe they should run on policies that appeal to more voters! And if you can't win that way, maybe your politics are outmoded. What a fucking wild idea!

While we're at it, lets do away with gerrymandering districts. Just cut that shit out completely.
    On what is in blue...

It's not an actual majority of Americans. It's usually more like a third.

    On what's in green...

You could say the same about the Democrats who lost to Bush or Trump.

I'm just saying that you keep crapping on Biden, when the whole point is LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE.

No one cares if Biden is courting Republicans. We just want anyone other than Trump in that office.

I just don't think people grasp how narrow a win Trump got in 2016 and how unlikely a repeat of that is. It COULD happen. There are some alarming signs in voter registration, for example, but I 2018's elections don't bode well for Trump's chances in 2020. There's a reason they're ramming Barret on the court and that's Bush V Gore 2.0.

I should also add that it's necessary for Trump to run the table of *every* toss up *and* flip either Pennsylvania or Michigan AND Wisconsin. It's, again, possible, but...

Outside of the numbers folks are looking at and 2018 results, it is also worth noting that no one stands a better chance of stopping Trump from winning a second term than Donald Trump.

    And right now?

The guy seems like he is bound a determined to take a sledge to any chances that he might have.

One small one from the "Illinois..." front. While it is good to see sensible steps being taken, I do wish it felt like there was more of a plan in place for the businesses involved. At least one local mom and pop pizza place is already closed for good.

    https://wgntv.com/news/coronavirus/d...-restrictions/

New COVID-19 restrictions coming to DuPage, Kane, Kankakee and Will counties after tests hit ‘failsafe’ level
Starting Friday, new restrictions will be put in place DuPage, Kane, Kankakee and Will counties, including limits on gatherings to 25 people or 25 percent of room capacity, a ban on indoor service at bars and restaurants, and requirements for outdoor service to end at 11 p.m.

A pizza place closing (delivery is a thing, anyway) is a small price to pay for thousands of lives saved, and hundreds of thousands of infections prevented.

Anyone who pretends otherwise is a disingenuous monster more concerned about their bank account than ordinary people surviving the pandemic.

    Full stop.

Trump won Pennsylvania by less than one percent in 2016. Fast forward four years, last time I checked, he was trailing Biden by five percent, his only chance to win the state is through Republican chicanery and voter suppression. Meanwhile, Barack Obama will be in Philly tonight to stump for Biden.

Most Presidents Who Lose Deal With Shame. Trump Could Have To Deal With Prison.

Winning a second term could put him beyond the reach of many of the possible charges, thanks to statutes of limitations that would run out. It's as I've said, the only thing Trump fears more than losing his wealth is losing his freedom. I've come to agree with those who say that if Trump loses, he'll flee the country to avoid trial.

I just will never accept Accelerationism as a worthwhile political philosophy. It's never been anything more than genocidal nihilism mixed with revenge porn. Actually, what it really reminds me of most is the Pat Robertson-esque Evangelicals. How it's becoming a major movement I have no idea...

Speaking of Pat Robertson though, he's back in the news today. Apparently he has been talking to God again, and God told him that if Trump is reelected he will definitely start Armageddon. Which is a good thing. So he's still on brand.
