I’m sure Trump will claim victory early in the night but he may not officially win until sometime Wednesday. In 2016, he officially won Pennsylvania at around 1:30 AM (ET). So he’ll probably officially be awarded Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina on election night but have to wait until the next day until the AP declares him the winner.

Maybe, but it's either that or risk tempting fate. Of course that might be a self fulfilling prophecy if hope is gone...

I get wanting to err on the side of caution but we should be aware we're not overestimating the surprise that was 2016. Trump was always in striking distance in a way he just doesn't seem to have as likely a path here.

The 10 weeks that follow where you have this spiteful man-child who's been rejected with the nuclear codes looking to f*** with all the states that didn't re-elect him.

On the upside, his mind is so shattered I doubt he could remember the codes.

All five votes cast in legendary, "WE VOTED FIRST!" place, Dixville-Notch, New Hampshire, were cast for Joe Biden just after midnight ET.

I'm sure that Donald will be getting some counted for himself, but I don't recall hearing about this town ever pitching a shutout since Reagan.

    In final campaign day omens...

Joe Biden is giving a speech in Iowa. Two bald eagles are filmed circling overhead.

Trump campaign preparing for a speech in North Carolina, hastily uses a platform lift to elevate a giant American flag, a gust of wind forces it to blow over backwards and crash into a building. Reporters note if the wind had blown the other way, Trump would have killed his supporters, and not with Covid-19 or from hypothermia this time.

    Happy Election Day Americans!

Hope it all works out. Good luck, and I hope Donnie gets a well-deserved booting from the White House and things look better for the country. You guys better have voted like lives depend on it - because it literally does.

For the sake of my mental health, I'll turn off social media at 6 pm and spend the evening watching anime. The last thing I need is to follow the polling like I had done back in 2016. Don't need that craziness. I'll just get the results (if there are any) tomorrow morning.

On this date in 2014, 2015, 2016, as well as 2017, “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day posted profiles of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who has a deserved reputation as a bully, not just for doing whatever it takes to get his way politically, but for acting like an extra from The Sopranos and screaming at reporters and constituents alike, calling them “idiot” and “stupid” for having the nerve to ask him questions. (Honestly, he might have been the impetus for Donald Trump thinking he could be taken seriously as a candidate.) And wow, speaking of Donald Trump and Christie, nothing was sadder than Trump making Gov. Christie stand behind him in press conferences with a look on his face like a deer in headlights, lie on his behalf on cable news as a surrogate for months on end, get picked on for his weight and eating Oreos by Trump at a press conference, and if rumors are true, be reduced to running errands like picking up McDonalds for Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign as Christie begged to be named his VP pick, or during the transition, begged to be Attorney General. Perhaps his lowest moment was his speech on the second night of the 2016 Republican National Convention, when he held a trial for imagined crimes committed by Hillary Clinton with her in absentia, leading the crowd to shout out her being found “GUILTY!” of all of them before leading them in chants of “LOCK HER UP!”

Christie’s strict Catholic upbringing has him opposed to abortion, and birth control, but somehow also makes him able to refuse to take in refugees even if, and we quote, “they are orphans under the age of five” and to lie about climate change and claim “it’s not a crisis” as the Jersey shoreline slowly moves inland due to rising sea levels, and Superstorm Sandy devastates New Jersey. Gov. Christie is also been under constant corruption investigations, from everything to usage of the state helicopter to fly to his son’s basketball games, to handing out wreckage from the 9/11 Ground Zero site to allies and donors, to closing down almost entire lanes of highways as a “screw you” to mayors in his state that wouldn’t endorse him for his re-election campaign in 2013 (trust us, we’ll be talking some Bridgegate here today) and several senior aides to Christie went to jail as a result. The citizens of New Jersey are also still trying to figure out what happened to all the Hurricane Sandy relief funding he was put in charge of, and were less than thrilled to discover $25 million was spent on “Stronger than the Storm” ads that, in effect, were presidential campaign ads where Christie declared himself a hero who successfully rebuilt the state. An FBI, federal, and statewide investigation all simultaneously are going on to figure out how the aid money was so mismanaged, and Christie’s approval ratings dropped from levels that were the highest in the country in 2012 all the way to the lowest in the country, and in the teens by 2017. In classic abrasive d*** mode, Christie responded in June 2017 to his state’s disgust with him by saying, “I don’t care”, and proceeded to demonstrate how true of a statement that really is when a few weeks later, he ordered the closure of a public beach over the Fourth of July weekend, and then photos surfaced that showed Gov. Christie took his family to that beach on the holiday so they had it all to themselves. He now has almost zero chance of being elected to anything in New Jersey or anywhere else after his disgraceful time in office, and was rewarded for trying to help Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign by getting a bad enough case of Covid-19 to be hospitalized for a week.

On this date in both 2018, as well as 2019, that “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day” profiled the current U.S. House Representative from Virginia’s 5th Congressional District, Denver Riggleman, who followed in the footsteps of white nationalist loon Tom Garrett, who retired after one embarrassing term. While Riggleman, a local distillery owner, was chosen to be the nominee for what the Virginia GOP felt was their best chance to keep this seat from flipping blue in 2018, perhaps they should have done their due diligence while researching the candidate… Denver Riggleman was revealed to have penned several online stories that are, for a lack of a better term… sasquatch erotica.

Riggleman’s opponent, Leslie Cockburn, was simply doing some research into her opponent, who likes to campaign with fellow CSGOPOTD and Neo-Confederate loon Corey Stewart, and has campaigned with Isaac Smith, the co-founder of the group that put on the “Unite the Right” hate rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that resulted in the death of Heather Heyer. Cockburn was doing some online research to see if she could find comments that would show Riggleman was as dedicated to white nationalism as Stewart, when she unearthed the treasure trove of Bigfoot porn, including drawings Riggleman had on his social media account of a Bigfoot standing with prolific genitalia. (In our opinion, the white nationalism is still the worse offense, but would be more typical.)

At first, Riggleman was insisting that the posts have nothing to do with erotica but were rather “a joke his military friends layed on him”. Riggleman did set his old social media accounts to private, so it was no longer possible to fully investigate the context in which the posts arose… HOWEVER… he did have a Facebook author page that listed a planned book to be titled The Mating Habits of Bigfoot and Why Women Want Him, which sounds a bit less like his interest was Jack Links Jerky or Harry and the Hendersons, you know?

Anyway, by and large, Riggleman’s entire election strategy after being selected for the nomination by the Virginia GOP has mostly been to keep his mouth shut, hope no one realizes how closely he can be linked to Charlottesville, to pretend he never wrote anything about the missing link’s wang, and hope that Virginia’s 5th Congressional District is simply gerrymandered to be a sure-win for anyone with an “R” next to his name to win office. The less he said to the press, the better for his chances. Unfortunately for him, he did have to debate Cockburn before the election, and the event was scheduled right around the time of the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. When a question was asked what could be done to deter the high number of sexual assaults on college campuses, and he came up with a solution to prevent it… he put the onus on the women to educate themselves better on how to not be raped.
Regrettably, Virginia’s 5th Congressional District has a +6 Republican lean in the Cook Partisan Voting Index, and that partisan lean was enough for Denver Riggleman to win office with 53% of the vote in 2018 over Leslie Cockburn. He thus went to Washington, D.C., and voted almost entirely along party lines for this term in office…

Which looks like it will be his only term in office because while Denver Riggleman’s fascination with human-on-sasquatch action wasn’t anything to concern the GOP in 2018… but in July of 2019, he did something they couldn’t allow... he officiated a same sex wedding that took place for two of his former campaign staffers. And that act of acceptance of LGBTQ rights is enough that he’s got Republican groups back in Virginia demanding he be censured, the Virginia GOP trotted out Bob Good, an Associate Athletic Director Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University (no word on if he ever got to know Mrs. Falwell while Mr. Falwell watched) to be Riggleman’s primary challenger. And Good ended up beating Denver Riggleman, meaning he’s out of office as of January 2021.

We’d like to wish Denver Riggleman our finest “GOOD RIDDANCE” salutes, and hope he continues to support LGBTQ rights while kindly not posting Bigfoot erotica online.
