Well, it seems that up through 1980 the only years that had over 200 character debuts were 1940, 1941, 1942 and 1966.

From 1981 to 2019 it happens every year.

I just came in to make sure Naomi got 2019.

Is her comic more interesting than her Young Justice guest star. Because dang, they made her seem stupid. Or is her catchphrase, "Um, I got my powers yesterday." Because that is really all she says.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

If I was going to do it, I wouldn't always go by what year a character (or team) was introduced. I'd prefer to pick something significant that happened that year.

    Infinitely more interesting.

It might not be to your taste. I don't know what kind of stories you like, but Naomi is far more interesting in her solo than she is in a team book where there's a dozen different faces clamoring for attention. Showing up in YJ and Action is just so we don't forget about her before season 2 hits.

Did you like Ultimate Spider-Man? Naomi is arguably Bendis' best work since that book (or maybe Daredevil), and there is a lot of similarity in how he structures things. Lots of character dynamics and quiet moments, lots of dialogue and conversation, etc. Not a lot of action just for the sake of it, everything is character first. Naomi has some really fun mysteries in it, several of which haven't been answered (or are only partially answered) so far. And what has been revealed is positioning her to be a major powerhouse in the DCU, with her own corner to play in and build from. Really solid foundation that lets her stand on her own as a character while still being connected to the wider universe/s. DC might drop the ball and not realize that potential but if they play it right then she's well positioned to be the next major/important character for the company.

And the art.....Naomi is probably the best looking comic of 2019. If Campbell (the artist) keeps it up, he's going to end up on that "Alex Ross" level of Big Damn Deal.

If you're at all curious I'd say check some previews and reviews, maybe scroll through her appreciation thread here, see if it tickles your interest.

Well, if you're obsessed with costumed supermen, that might be a down time. But if you like other kinds of flavours in your stew, there's plenty of selection.

Interesting, and I suppose I should mention that Harley Quinn debuted in 1992 in TAS, but going by comic debuts, she debuted in 1993 in the the BA comics, which is why I listed her under 1993.

I was curious as to why Supergirl wasn't on the list. But I looked it up and she debuted in 1959, same as Hal GL, so I understood why after that.

Power Girl didn't make 1976? Really? Harley technically would have been 1992 since that's when she first appeared on the show.
