Default Taika Wahiti to direct and write new film

Although it's a bit unclear whether this is the "next" film-I'm pretty sure both the GOT writer films and the Rian Johnson trilogy were either called off or in development hell.

They need to stop announcing these projects until they're further developed.

You make it sound as if Taika is going to quit/be replaced before the work begins or be fired halfway through shooting. What are the odds of that happening

No, the next thing you know you will want the odds on Rian Johnson's Star Wars trilogy.

Should be interesting to see what it's about at the very least.

Hope Rian Johnson gets his movies, but Wahiti making a Star Wars movie sounds really good on paper.

Wahiti is a celebrated director, and for good reason obviously, but he has left other projects before (Moana) and Star Wars has burned through so much creative talent. I see a lot of people celebrating this decision even though months prior these same people rolled their eyes when Star Wars announced an Old Republic trilogy.

High Republic not Old Republic which is why everyone was rolling their eyes.

I liked Wahiti's work on the Mandalorian. So it might be good.

I refuse to believe that he signed on to this & have to answer to Kathleen Kennedy. He's smarter than that, right?

Well, after a "masterpiece" such as Thor Ragnarok i guess he's just happy Disney is giving him more job.
