Great win Scott! Talk about iconic covers! Even with the top removed.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Congratulations to Scott Taylor for a fantastic and marvelous cover which went with arguably the greatest done-in-one the FF has ever had.

And now, what has the captain learned this week in the peak of the week. Before he falls back into a get off my lawn rant, the captain wants to remind all you kids that the 3/4 cover (as they were often known) was a way for many of us to obtain older books that were too expensive in better condition. Thus, my copy of FF 13, still needing to be upgraded. The 3/4 books were a primitive version of thew black market, seeing as they "fell off the truck". They are still out there and like this contest, allow us to learn a little something about these funny books we read.

And some collectors used to call it getting a reader version of a more valuable comic. It took a long time before the industry decided to publish collected versions. But they did have the reprint titles like Marvel's Collectors Items Classics, which reprinted Stan & Jack's FF issues. Marvel Tales reprinted the Amazing Spider-Man. The first issue of that was a real extravaganza I think my brother still has that one boxed away in the "family collection"

Oh my, this I did not expect, what a pleasant surprise to find out! Sorry, I had been afk for a while between yesterday and today.

Thank you for the votes nx01a, Kirby101, Shalla Bal, ed2962, Rob Allen and Iron Maiden! I got the Doom vote! And thank you WestPhillyPunisher for a great context.

    New contest up shortly.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the stories of comic days gone by. The stories for the cover image mash ups.
All the searchers and posters for all their contributions , I had fun!
