Correct, however, as stated, he's dropped into Gotham. He has no arch enemies, just delicious vessels running around.... like turds..... in the wind.

Bingo. The symbiotic weaknesses in main stream Marvel are not that widely known, you either discovered it by dumb luck/tools or Spidey told you/shown you.

He'd have to know to do so. And he'd also have to survive his first encounter with Venom to do that. Neither of those are sure things. The snoic weakness isn't common knowledge.
