Default Golden Age characters that you find fascinating.

A thread for Golden Age characters you feel like talking about in general, whether it be because of their interesting origins, the stories they were in, the art they’ve been showcased in and so on.

For me, the concept of a spirit coming back from the dead to avenge someone, like the Spectre, fascinates me. Also what fascinates me is reincarnation, like with Hawkman, or trained sorcery, like with Doctor Fate. Basically, any origin that resembles anything magical/spiritual/supernatural is likely to catch my attention.

I always loved Hourman. His look. His abilities. His Minute Men organization. He's on my Top 5 List.

The Comet from Pep Comics #3 (April 1940, Archie Comics), a chemist who injected himself with a special gas that was many times lighter than hydrogen, allowing him to not only achieve flying leaps (and later fly), but also allowing him to fire beams out of his eyes, and wore glass goggles to keep his powers under control.

Plus, if all his power is from 1 hour pills, he spends most of his life, including most of his planning for action, as plain ol' timid Tik Tok Tyler. And he gets it done anyway.

    I like Black Condor because:

    a. he's a white guy with that name
    b. he was raised by birds who taught him how to fly
    c. he wore the skimpiest outfit - he was 70s Cosmic Boy 35 years before the 70s.

    Hillary was right!

Since the thread is about Golden Age "characters", not superheroes, I would certainly include those glamour dolls from the 1940s, Betty and Veronica. It's a lot of fun to see how the artists depict them in every decade since then. Here they are in 1944:

and here they are from October 1950:
