That would be an interesting showdown. Given Verna's preference for younger Spider Totems, I could see her going after Gerry as the impetus for Jessica taking her on.

Now that I think about it, I don't think they've said who the Spider-Kid is supposed to be, what if it ends up being an older alternate version of Gerry? That would be really good.

That's what I've been thinking. Though some think he might be a younger spider version of Daredevil because of his batons. I don't think he would be MC2 Gerry though. Guess we'll find out next week!

That could be a good idea. Maybe an older Gerry Drew, trained by Daredevil, kind of like Darkdevil in the MC2 Spider-Girl comics was the son of Ben Reilly fused with Daredevil's spirit and a piece of Zarathos, allowing him to gain Daredevil's fighting and lawyerly skills with a touch of hellfire.

Happy Birthday to the late GREAT John Buscema!!!

    Wolverine #2 Dec 1988
    "Possession is the Law!"
With Jessica Drew bringing the cursed Muramasa Blade -- coveted by the Cult of the Black Blade -- to a bar in Madripoor's Lowtown and into a trap,
Logan (in his guise of Patch) and Lindsay McCabe (Jessica's actress friend) head to the bar to wait for Jessica's arrival.
The bar is a rough place but Patch is most impressed when Lindsay conducts herself well even though he has to warn off the locals that she is with him.
She impresses him further when she takes the same drink as him even thought it literally knocks her off her feet.

Patch leaves her behind while he goes upstairs to meet with the "contact", left to her own devices Lindsay becomes
uncomfortable to the attention she is getting and takes up Belle the bartenders offer to work behind the bar while Patch is busy.
As Logan goes upstairs he recounts the course of events that led him here.
Entering the room where Jessica Drew was supposed to meet her contact, Patch finds that everyone in the room has been slaughtered.
As he enters the room, he is suddenly attacked by the Silver Samurai who has also come looking for the sword
and will not allow Logan to interfere in his plans. The two begin to spar when suddenly their are interrupted by Jessica Drew,
who steps out of the shadows revealing that she is under the influence of the Muramasa Sword.
Their fight spills into the bar below where the bewildered Lindsay watches as the Silver Samurai threatens to kill Jessica in order to get the sword.

Before the fight can continue further some of the roughnecks in the bar attempt to gun
down Jessica, Patch and the Samurai until they are all slaughtered by Jessica and the Samurai.
As the fight continues on, Logan decides to use a more drastic measure to stop the fight.
When nobody is looking he uses his claws to cut through one of the foundation walls of the bar, sending the roof collapsing on them all.
Jessica manages to get free first and escapes into the night. Patch rescues Lindsay from the rubble and goes after Drew.

Lindsay goes to the Silver Samurai and considers slaying him with his own sword but decides to rescue him from the rubble instead.
When Lindsay almost falls through the floor the Samurai returns the favor.
Before the Silver Samurai can continue his hunt for the blade, Lindsay manages to talk him into letting her accompany him.

Meanwhile, Patch has caught up and cornered Jessica Drew,

who under the swords influence attacks him. Although the battle is brutal,
Logan's healing factor compensates for the cuts made from the black blade.
He manages to grab the sword out of her hand and before he can land a killing blow
the sword -- finding him a more suitable host -- takes possession of Logan instead.

The Silver Samurai and Lindsay arrive just as the possession is complete and the sword announces to them
that it has found the perfect host and that once it sacrifices Jessica's life their bond will become permanent.

I recently read that arc and enjoyed it.

Also Jessica's Canon Birthday was Dec. 7 in case anyone was wondering.

So I am thinking of doing a Valentine’s Day themed CYOA fanfic for Peter/Spider-Man with about eight different love interests to meet, either in their civilian or superhero personas, so I was just wondering what sorts of things fans of Peter/Jessica might want to see in a possible date or romantic setting? Just an experiment I might be trying as a Spider-Man fan...

I have such a hard time wrapping my head around Peter/Jessica as a ship. I see them more as siblings than anything else (she certainly acts like he's an annoying younger brother). I'd rather see her with Bruce Banner or Carol Danvers (also, Matt Murdock. I swear it makes sense when you REALLY think about it).

I can see what you mean, and oddly enough I remember a RP I was involved in where Bruce and Jessica became romantically involved for a spell. Jess and Matt does make sense actually...

I have seen some suggestions in the past about them as a couple (the whole Spider-Man and Woman thing I guess) though I would probably imagine Jessica giving Peter tips about not screwing a date up with Carol... but I’ll likely keep her as an option if I go through with my idea...

Honestly, Peter and Jessica are characters I find it odd to see them interacting, being in a relationship is much weirder...

Anyways, I've been wondering, just "who" is Jessica? That on-going she got in like 2014/2015 she was pretty snarky, but I remember reading much older issues which she was quieter and serious, and I'm wondering if Jessica is someone without a defined personality? Or maybe either of those issues screwed her up?

I would say she got snarkier when brought out of obscurity in the 2000s by Brian Bendis, first in Alias and then in New Avengers. From what I could tell, though, she was quieter and more serious in the older issues because those took place when she was still trying to acclimate to the world around her and feeling alienated by her powers and how people reacted to her.

I think Huntsman Spider is right - but if you read some of the issues she appeared in after her run ended in the 80s(I'm thinking Wolverine), the snarky attitude starts to come out. But she's been reserved and standoffish more recently in Spidergeddon and back right after Secret Invasion until she found her footing again.

Speaking of Secret Invasion - the Jessica we had prior to the end of Secret Invasion wasn't the real one and I think a lot of people forget that the real Jess wasn't around for House of M or the SHRA. That was all Veranke from the second Jess joined the Avengers back in what.. 2004?

Yeah, every Jessica Drew appearance from New Avengers #1 to Secret Invasion (which is about 2004-2008) is Veranke, since NA#1 was her first appearance, and in the SI tie-in issues its revealed she replaced Jessica a few months before the start of the issue.

So basicaly she was more serious when getting used to the world but got snarky with time, alright, that's more natural than I expected, though I felt like she got too snarky in her on-going, and like Anya she occasionaly felt like a female Spidey, which is sad to butcher a character like that.

As far as I remember of Jessica in that Wolverine run, she was serious, but I think I only read like, the first 5 issues, so she could've gotten snarkier after that.

Yeah I think the last time Jessica showed up till she was freed in Secret Invasion was in Alias, and while Veranke was only pretending to be Jessica, nobody talked if she was acting different, and at the very least Wolverine knew her well enough to notice such a thing, so it's how she was always supposed to be, then again, it was Bendis writing it, and the guy isn't reliable with characterization... But maybe he didn't screw up with her? I dunno lol.
