    Default Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

What did you think of this movie? Yeah, Lincoln was not an actual vampire hunter, but what I think the movie does well is it makes Abraham look really cool and I think it does a good job honoring the man as well as how important he was to keeping the Union together. The same story beats of his life still happen (marries Mary Todd, gets elected President, gets assassinated). I thought it might have a different ending with him not getting assassinated, but glad that they stuck to the real story for the most part. It even got me more interested in reading more about Lincoln as well.

I liked it. Cool alternative history. I especially liked them using the "Railroad" to save Gettysberg.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

It was quite different from the book. But the changes it did made sense. The first book didn't have a main villain, it was simply "vampires." Which doesn't work well in a movie. An audience probably relates to a head villain better. They also changed one important factor, Lincoln freed the slaves to take away the vampire's food source.
They also changed the epilogue, which the epilogue in the book was cool, which didn't pan in the second book, so it was just as well.

Movie wise, I was entertained. It was an interesting take for a different version of the past. I thought they did a good job with it. Perhaps the horse scene was bit overdone and I might have gone a different route.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

I saw it. It sounded too odd to pass up. I remember liking it but I have to admit I don't remember most of it.

I liked the movie as I thought it was fun, what with the reimaging of Honest Abe as a kickass vampire hunter.

The book was more interesting, if a bit more of a fantasy romp. The movie is fine, it gets the point across even with the changes from the book. I did miss the little details evident in the book about Lincoln and how they meshed with his documented life. The book did a better job in this regard.
