Good question. My top five...

5. DeFalco/ Frenz- Hindered by fill-ins and a sudden ending, it's still got the alien costume saga, some of the rematches with Hobgoblin, the debut of Silver Sable, and the return of Crusher Hogan.

4. Conway/ Kane/ Andru- It was uneven, but the heights were excellent. It was also the last run where things kept consistently changing for Peter, beyond the illusion of change or his supporting cast having more interesting developments.

3. Lee/ Romita- This probably set the template for what we think of when we think of Spidey, with the perfect balance between his private life, his professional life and the superhero side of things.

2. Stern/ Romita Jr & company- It might have the highest batting average of any Spider-Man run, with the greatest number of A and A+ stories in 24 issues.

1. Lee/ Ditko- Yes, it's the first and most important run but so much of it still holds up.

I have only read two of the original runs But of those two
Stan Lee was my favorite Then Gerry Conway. I jumped from these to Superior Spiderman because I liked the Idea of the story. I am still reading golden age Marvel but I am really looking forward to rereading these issues when I get to them.
