Gargoyles is one of the crown jewels in the realm of Disney's animated series. Premiering in 1994, it garnered praise for its heavy themes as well as its long-form story arcs and its cancellation came as a surprise to all. The reason behind it has never been revealed until now.

I remember watching the Phoenix Saga (no Dark) on Fox. The network treated it as so special an event that the 5 parts were to run on weekdays rather than its usual Saturday morning slot.
So from Monday through Thursday, it was mandatory viewing, each episode better than the last, with everyone waiting in anticipation.
Friday comes along, and that means the conclusion of the 5 episode arc. The moment we had all been waiting for! The episode starts, the iconic theme music kicks in, our heroes face impossible odds, and we're at the edge of our seats...
...and then the episode is cut off to show breaking news: the slow-ass chase with OJ's white bronco.
That's when I knew he was no good.
