Actually all the James Bond movie from Sean Connery to Timothy Dalton are based on Fleming's novels and the ones with Pierce Brosnan were created to be sequels of the previous ones, so all of them are about the same James Bond. The only actual reboot of the character happened with Daniel Craig, because they wanted a younger James Bond, in fact the first movie with Daniel Craig is "Casino Royale" the adaptation of the first mission of James like 007; mission told by Fleming in the homonym novel.

I don't know the validity of this site, but more rumors:

    Good for her! Not watching.

This article sums up why they should just recast Kate quite nicely:

While I agree with her on how black people are portrayed, I tuned into Batwoman to watch Kate Kane take up the mantle to help Gotham. If a "Ryan Wilder" was introduced as a secondary character, that would be fine. But as other people have said, this is looking like the Catwoman film; the character may call them self as Batwoman, but they have nothing to do with the actual character

Yes, imagine a Tomb Raider film that doesn't star Lara Croft - they just make a new OC. And for 'reasons' she takes off with Lara's twin pistols and mansion (heck, maybe she even takes the butler), and goes tomb raiding.
And she's also described as more "likable" and "goofy", and not like Lara Croft at all.

[Edit] Better yet - she finds Lara's blue singlet and shorts/pants in the laundry basket and takes to wearing them on her adventures.

Going to be very jarring when Batwoman suddenly becomes a different person. I hope they pull it off, I was really enjoying this show.
While I love Batwoman, I didn't quite feel the show as I expected before it started.

If they insist on a new character as Batwoman, they should go with Betty Kane - a cousin of Kate & Alice.

But I’ve always been a fan of Betty.

They can't, she doesn't exist in the Arrowverse. They replaced Bette with Mary, and Mary at this stage is in no position to take the mantle, as she's more the team medic.

No reason why a recast can't work, it's not like there isn't a long history of it:

In Lethal Weapon they didn't recast but instead went with a new OC for season 3 (and killed-off the character being replaced). Season 3 was the last season before it was axed.

Sophie as the new Batwoman (fan suggestion):

Huh, now this I could actually get on board with, could bring things full circle which is probably why the CW won't do it - it would be too sensible.

Would always prefer a recast, but this I would actually watch.

I don't think it will happen: if I'm right and the decision to recast Batwoman is related to the will to improve the audience rating, then they will change everything in the main character's concept; I will happy if the events will prove I'm wrong.

The petition is now past 1500, add to that the media articles saying the replacement plan is stupid, and it's looking like there may be a lot of "we told you so" after season 2 airs and probably doesn't do too great.

Hey, I could be wrong, don't care if I am, but I'm feeling pretty vindicated since I'm not alone in my complaints.

While I love that thought too. I think they should let Mary be Flamebird. She knows the score and is very helpful. We could see her struggle and eventually be taught by Kate when she returns . Likewise Luke as Batwing. Let Kate be missing or out of the picture. Mary and Luke have to rise to the challenge.

Plus I want to see Mary with a blonde wig and Flamebird colors!

Uhm, okay, to each their own.

Another article (apologies if this one was already linked), someone let me know if you ever come across a serious one in favor of the OC, just for contrast!

    https://nerdist.com/article/why-repl...oman-is-wrong/

Just going to stick the conclusion here:
And this is why Greg Berlanti and Caroline Dries should absolutely not remove Kate Kane from the series and replace her with someone new. Kate Kane has real historical significance; her inclusion in the DCU was a cultural touchstone. She continues to mean a great deal to LGBTQ fans. Just swapping her out with another lesbian hero who wears a red wig and black outfit suggests that’s all Batwoman is—that the other details about her are not important. And that is a slap in the face to her fans across the world.

They don't necessarily need to look comic accurate. Both Barry Allen and Jesse Quick are blonde in the comics, they're brunette in The Flash. Batwoman only had a wig in costume because she does exactly that in the comics.

Well yeah, without the wig Batwoman kinda blends in with various Batgirl costumes a bit much - and plenty of people already get them mixed-up. More specifically, the suit would probably resemble Cass's Batgirl suit too much, even though the mouth would remain uncovered. But I agree, if Mary suits-up as Flamebird, she doesn't need a blonde wig, but she can have one if people want. I'm not bothered either way.

Looks like when they promote season 2 they get mostly comments insisting on Kate Kane.

Petition is nearing 2000, still a little surprised it has so many.

I don’t really watch this show but it fascinates me that showrunners have made a situation such as the star leaving their show needlessly complicated with their confusing decision to create an original character from scratch, and have her replace the old character from the comics.
