Default Sunrise Studios to be merged into Bandai filmworks

    https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...ations/.182390

Sunrise is the company that is mostly known for the Gundam anime franchise, but it's success with other titles-the long running Romantic action comedy City Hunter, the classic Cowboy Bebop, Dirty Pair, etc. In addition to Gundam it also produced many other notable robot shows, from super-robot stuff like Voltes V to more 'real' shows like Votoms, Patlabor, and more experimental stuff like Big O and Escaflowne. They adapted Rumiko Takahashi's Inuyash to anime. They also worked on American series like Inspector Gadget and Batman The Animated series.

Seems they're mostly retiring the Sunrise name for the studio and bringing themselves closer to the Bandai brand.

I'm just curious if this will effect their anime output at all.

They at least still seem heavily focused on Gundam. New TV series coming soon, and I think at least three movies (The Doan's Island/ORIGIN one, A Gundam Seed project-not Eclipse-and Hathaway II). Plus the ONAs they occasionally make.

There's also intensifying merchandise in NA as well.
