I always say straight man but honestly I see Superman as just a good guy to play off. He's a great actor and he's got some Johnny Carson ability to draw what's interesting out of people. He also has the Strahan kind of physical credibility in back of his sillier side that opens him up to a wide audience, given that he's basically the most powerful man in the universe. Mxy could be his co-host.
Also, I really like the idea of Superman and his Superhero friends in a show like Entourage.

Superman as an actor makes sense. He can do his own stunt. He can dance. He can even act. He can change his voice. So that's the best profession for him. But, the s will be unusable.
Smallville already did that.

Two things about the Superman story that I never or rarely see, yet seem to be very important to the character are 1) Clark Kent is a talented writer of reportage and 2) Superman has encountered so much in the universe that must've had a impact on him philosophically, intellectually, morally.
A man so gifted at composition and observation would surely write down his understanding of the universe and his insights into what it means to exist in such a world.
Even if he had no powers left, Clark would surely reflect on all he'd seen and experienced and try to express that in p r o s e - - for himself and for all of us.
