Apparently the editors and/or creators at both DC and then Marvel were both not so subtlety processing whatever anxieties they had, about the "hypnotic" influence of what their kids were listening to.
Johnny Dune and the Hypno Hustler should team-up!

And now for something completely different... instead of rock 'n' roll in comics, how about comics in rock 'n' roll? Specifically, R. Crumb's cover for the 1968 Cheap Thrills album by Big Brother and the Holding Company, led by Janis Joplin. Reportedly Crumb refused to be paid for this cover, because he didn't want Columbia Records' "filthy lucre".
