It can be given to a studio under the Image Comics banner like Todd McFarlane Productions, Top Cow, Skybound, and etc. The first reboots of The Transformers and G.I. Joe were given to Dreamwave and Devil's Due Publishing respectfully, when their books were still being published by Image and they weren't the first licensed properties that Image published, Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld put Resident Evil and Power Rangers comics respectfully before they left Image and IIRC Top Cow published a Battle For The Planets series as well.

My guess IF any of the Image big shots getting the rights it would be Robert Kirkman, since he was a part of the writers' room that Paramount/Hasbro hired to make a Hasbro Cinematic Universe for them. That doesn't really inspire me with a lot of hope because Kirkman is at best an average writer but I don't care about his characters or their worlds and none his work of his that I've read has ever really made me want to read more his work.

No offense, but I'll always be partial towards the '80s version (XD)

Yea. The '80s was a great time to be a comic fan.

80's run collected in the first 15 volumes of G.I. Joe Classic is the whole Marvel run, and the only GI Joe you really need.

I wish G.I. Joe Cobra by Christos Gage had stuck the landing, but sadly it had a much stronger start than finish.

i hope that it goes back to marvel with a solid creative team, and rotating artists if necessary. I'd rather see an in media res introduction rather than a "year one/zero" reboot.

Does IDW also looses the right to publish the Transformers iDW Collections?

I am at Phase 2 and don't want to pay collectors prices when they cease to publish them.

I'm about 99% certain that the answer to that question is YES.
Same reason Marvel had to negotiate in order to collect the 70s Shang Chi Master of Kung-Fu series and not publish the Conan material until they had regained the license.

So I have to purchase them now, or I will pay ridiculous prices in the future? O h man....

Of the Xmas covers/issues we produced for #transformers UK, this is my favourite. Read into that what you will! Have a great holiday season everyone and stay safe/well.

I have drawn comics, storyboarded for animation, games, TV and movies for over 30 yrs.
This remains the most significant and reused bit of art I have done in all that time, and I did it right at the start of my career.

    Merry Christmas everyone!
