It can be given to a studio under the Image Comics banner like Todd McFarlane Productions, Top Cow, Skybound, and etc. The first reboots of The Transformers and G.I. Joe were given to Dreamwave and Devil's Due Publishing respectfully, when their books were still being published by Image and they weren't the first licensed properties that Image published, Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld put Resident Evil and Power Rangers comics respectfully before they left Image and IIRC Top Cow published a Battle For The Planets series as well.
My guess IF any of the Image big shots getting the rights it would be Robert Kirkman, since he was a part of the writers' room that Paramount/Hasbro hired to make a Hasbro Cinematic Universe for them. That doesn't really inspire me with a lot of hope because Kirkman is at best an average writer but I don't care about his characters or their worlds and none his work of his that I've read has ever really made me want to read more his work.
