Anya is in Black Widow #7 for just 3 pages, yet she has so much personality that was severy lacking from her last appearances.
The issue of course doesn't go into much detail about Anya, but gives some hints about her life.

She moved to San Francisco by her own will. She just happened to find Nat there and Nat asked for her help. Anya's reaction implies she hasn't seen action for a while. Or at least that she feels needed in some way.
Makes sense. spoilers:end of spoilers
She's probably felt a lack of purpose since she was forced to return to 616 when Loomworld was destroyed in Spider-Geddon.

She's always looked anime-ish. When she debuted she had a spiky looking ponytail. If there's two hairstyles common in anime it's spikes and Rapunzel hair.

I know, right?! Loved it then, and still love it now
Glad that look is gone. Looking forward to seeing what her role is going to be longterm(?) in Black Widow. There is the outside chance this is a small cameo for an arc and she goes away again I suppose.

Please correct me if I am wrong...but last I knew Anya was a high school student...what is she doing out in San Francisco besides being used in a story.
Anya hasn't been in high school since before Spider-Verse. And she's orphaned, which explains why she's on her own with no family. Didn't she have a job during Civil War anyway? She must've not been far off graduating high school even then, which was only two years after her debut. It's been another 15 years since then, so she should've aged up two or three years since her Arana days.

Thompson has said she'll part of the ensemble. So she'll stay until it ends or Thompson leaves.
They haven't revealed yet why she moved to SF. She has been leaving alone for years now, though. After her father died, the scholarship the F4 gave her also recognized her as being emancipated.
Also she might be older by this point. Last on-page age she was mentioned having was 16, and that was a decade ago. Again, we have to wait for the next issues to fully see what's been of her life between Last Remains and now.
She should be 18 now then. In any case, she left school before Spider-Verse, though if she had a Future Foundation scholarship, she may well have graduated early.
