Hmm, yeah. Anya did meet Spider-Man twice when she was still Arana, and the Grim Hunt storyline was where she became Spider-Girl with Julia Carpenter's Arachne costume (since Julia had become the new Madame Web when Cassandra Webb passed on her powers before she died). She also participated in Spider-Island, where she (re)gained spider-powers after having somehow lost them, and later Spider-Verse, after which she became one of the Multiverse-traveling Web Warriors --- and was somewhat underused in that series. Last appearance was in Spider-Geddon, mainly the Spider-Girls tie-in mini.

She isn't particularly close to anyone. She was mentored briefly by Peter and later by Jess, but that last one hasn't been brought in a while. She has never really interacted with Silk or Miles. She was teammate of Gwen during Web Warriors, she is probably the one she could be closest to, albeit the actual comic didn't really did much with them together.

What about Julia? She did give Anya her costume?

Yeah, she did. They were the sole survivors of the Grim Hunt arc . . . though Kaine came crawling out of his grave in the epilogue, and Mattie and Cassandra were temporarily brought back --- technically "reanimated" --- years later in The Clone Conspiracy.

This happened just after Civil War in Ms. Marvel. Her carapace was ripped right off her by a bad guy, and was just gone. As a result she was depowered, and Anya's father got a restraining order against Carol for putting her in such danger. But she was still a spider totem, so while everyone else only temporarily gained powers in Spider-Island, Anya's were permanent.

Of course, the cartoon skipped the Arana stuff entirely and just used Spider-Island as her origin.

Yeah, there's a TPB released of all 8 issues from her solo as Spider-Girl, titled "Family Values."

Officially available to pre-order on Amazon US.

Date says December 15 while UK says October 20. Guess we'll have to wait which one changes to see the official release date.

I suspect the UK date is pre-COVID and needs updating.

It originally also said to be released in December when I started this thread and posted the link for the first time. It wasn't until later that it changed to October.

That's weird, it was brought forward? In the circumstances, that simply makes no sense.

I mean, it does if you consider that there were probably collections that were originally supposed to come out around that time, but due to being cancelled (like the Empyre tie-ins) or delayed (all the Outlawed stuff) they were left without much trades to have on bookshelves by the fall period. Araņa is only a reprint that was already planned, so it's much easier to have that done by the early fall.

Of course, it could always be that there was some mistake on the UK site that pushed forward to October. We're gonna have to wait and see this months solicits. If it releases in October then it should be listed, if it doesn't then until December.

So solicits seem to confirm that the Araņa trade won't come out in October as the UK listing said. It still says October in the UK site, but I imagine they'll fix it in the next days.
