Default Araņa: Here comes the Spider-Girl!

Welp, just when I thought there wouldn't be any more references to Araņa again, they come with this:

Out of the pages of Amazing Fantasy comes a spectacular hero! Not Peter Parker, but a wallcrawler for a whole new generation - Anya Corazon, a.k.a. Arana! When scrappy Brooklyn high-school student Anya accidentally crosses paths with the mystical Spider Society, she finds herself empowered with a magical tattoo that generates a strange armoured exoskeleton - and grants her amazing powers! But as Arana gets more and more involved with the Spider Society, she learns of their ancient, hidden war against a ruthless enemy. Will Arana become a Hunter? Can she keep her father, an inquisitive reporter, from learning the truth? And what happens when her brand new arch-enemy transfers into her school?! Meet the modern marvel with the heart of the spider! Collecting: Amazing Fantasy (2004) 1-6, Arana (2005) 1-6

So yeah, a collection of Araņa coming this fall!

This is the first this issues would be collected in this format, previously they were printed in only digest formats. I'm also surprised that this is even getting reprinted, I had thought they would barely reference the Araņa era from now on, I mean until now the Araņa era was treated like "oh yeah, my origin is magic but now I'm Spider-Girl".

I know it's unusual to make a thread of collected trade, but since Anya doesn't have a proper thread I made one to share my excitement! Could this also mean that there might be plans for her in the upcoming months, so they're putting this introduce her to new readers?

Would be nice to see Anya get a new ongoing again or at least a mini series.

Yeah, most of the time it seems like the comics side has completely forgotten about her...

Her appearance in 2017 Spider-Man cartoon got me into reading her comics and now I'm a fan of the character, I wouldn't mind seeing someone do something new with Anya. Maybe if this collection sells well it'll show Marvel that people want to see Anya have another chance to shine. I'll in it in hopes of that.

May or may not be related, but a few weeks back artist Ray-Anthony Height (whose most recent work was on Miles Morales: Spider-Man and Marvel Voices) posted a panel of Anya that seems to be from a upcoming comic:

Yeah, the fact that he's playing coy means we're probably getting a new series with her!

I wish she returned to the Arana identity. Way more unique and it's not like her being Spider-Girl lead to good sales. I think a distinct identity may make her more successful in the long run.

    I don't disagree.

Me too. They should just return to Anya the magical tattoo/armored exoskeleton & be done with it.

The problem for Anya is that she was a female teenager with Spider-Man powers, and Gwen Stacy overshadowed her and kinda made her redundant.

The problem is they ran her out there in a lot of things for 10 years and she never caught on.

And Miles too. That What If? story for Grim Hunt where Peter killed Kraven implied that she was to be Peter's successor if anything happened to him.

It's a shame, because she started out with her own name and her own powers. If they ever bring her back, they should consider also bringing back and emphasising the things that made her different from the other female Spider-Mans.
