    Default Cover Contest: 8/13-8/19

    Thanks for the votes everyone.

ok, now that I'm home and can post on my desktop system:

Granted, "art" is subjective, but there are just some covers you look at and think to yourself: "how the heck did an Editor approve this to be the cover???"

it can be bad anatomy, bad coloring, bad layout. . anything.

so choose a cover that you think should be displayed in MOBA (Museum of Bad Art)

    The rules -

Post one, and only one, cover that fits the theme of the contest.
Cover must be from an published comic book or collected volume.
Covers must be posted before voting begins.
Voting runs from12 AM Tuesday until 12 AM Wednesday PST .
Vote by posting the name in bold of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most.
The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period.
    Have fun!

    Here's my contribution: X-Factor 139.

just look at that "anatomy". . and no, Mystique being a shape-shifter can't excuse that "neck"

There are a lot of gems from the the 80s black and white boom to mine for this contest, but I like this one best.

Made extra-painful knowing that Marvel's version of LOGAN'S RUN featured stunning art from George Perez and Klaus Janson.

You can find a bunch of books I wrote stories for here. The weekly column is here.

this looks so familiar. . and I couldn't place it.

    Is this Barry Blair's work?

(he has a certain style, from drawing all those 80's Elf & Quest style books. . . so I don't mind this style. . .just trying to place it)

I would have said it doesn't even rise to THAT level, but I guess it was Blair.

I would've bet money I was the only person who remembered L.I.F.E. Brigade. The b&w glut was almost too easy, and I did try for something from the mainstream publishers. But I just kept coming back to this one. . .

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

This cover is like a "what's wrong with this picture?" game.

    Jodoc hurts my eyes:

Not only is the artwork bad, that trade dress is a complete mess.

I could choose a Liefeld cover, but I decided to be a little more creative, and remembered a number of ugly Batman covers
