I’ve only seen the movie, but assuming power levels are comparable what does Matt Parkman have that can prevent him from being boxed up?

Also does Danny have the Overlook ghosts to unleash?

Why could Danny randomly summon the ghosts? Dude has to be there literally to do it. Not just summon at a notice.

Also Matt is damned good at his psionics, but the Shibers powers are damn well supernatural/more shit than he is used to.

He didn't summon them, they were all in boxes in his head, having been imprisoned by Danny when they sought him out after the Overlook blew up in the novel and abandoned in the movies. All he had to do was let them out.

That was due to Matt psyching and guilting his dad out in part. Besides that Matt’s dad seemed limited.

Danny had convos between himself and future self, the ghost thing, and other stuff. Abe’s has like crazy potential and Hat is literally a psyche vampire.

Danny's Shining isn't as strong now, as the older they get the weaker it becomes. When he was a kid his Sining would have rivaled Abra. Since he was so strong in childhood, even a watered down version was still pretty strong. He was able to hold off the Hat on his own for a while until Abra got there.
