    Default Searching for lost comic

Hello. Please forgive me if this is the wrong forum to post this in.

I am searching for a comic that I had as a child that I can't seem to find. I have only a vague recollection. These are the things I remember.

The art was very colorful and pretty.

It was laid out like a collection of science fiction short stories with humorous punchlines.

The art and creatures were a little bit like muppets or something, not human.

The main character was either a professor or doctor and the title of the book had his name in it.

One of the stories involved the title character discovering what he believes to be the largest single celled organism ever. After he leaves a double celled organism much much larger than the single celled shows up and is informed by the single celled organism that he was only interested in single celled organisms.

Another of the stories involves the title character being visited by a time traveler from the future who informs him that research he is doing eventually leads to the scientific breakthroughs that make time travel possible. When the title character realizes that he will not discover and experience time travel in his lifetime he makes the decision to stop that particular line of research and just as he does the visitor winks out of existence.

Those are the only details that I remember. It is driving me crazy that I can't find this. If any of this rings a bell please let me know!!

Sorry, I don't know, but sounds like a fun book. Hope someone here can help you.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

I don't know the answer, but some information that will be needed.

What year were you a child and recall reading this book?
What country were you reading this book in?

This will assist people in possibly remembering it more.
We all weren't children at the same time and different countries might be comics at different times.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Good point. I was born in 1980 and I received the comic as gift most likely in the early 90s. I was living in the United States and the book was most likely purchased in Colorado.

A quick search on the GCD for a series with "Professor" in its name turned up this issue from 1990 with a time-machine gag on the cover.

If this isn't it, I can search for "Doctor".

You might also ask at the site in my signature.

Thank you, but that is not it. It was a very modern looking sleek book with glossy pages and really detailed, colorful artwork. The title character and other characters were all funny looking humanoid alien types, no actual humans that I can recall. I want to say the main characters were almost a little like Fraggles or something Jim Henson would do.

I think I found it - Dr. Watchstop from Eclipse, collecting stories previously published in Epic Illustrated and Fusion. Story titles include "Dr. Watchstop Faces the Future" and "One Cell at a Time".

I hope the OP comes back. I've sent him an email thru his CBR profile.
