Who is the perfect villain to unite the entire Marvel community of heroes?

They probably missed their chance with Red Skull, since he once possessed a Cosmic Cube. Unfortunately, other than giving Sam Wilson a bond with Redwing and gifting him with bird-speak, there doesn't appear to be any lingering consequence of someone as evil as Red Skull owning a device that could reshape all of reality in the blink of an eye. Or is there?

There was a book uhmm... kang war? Yeah it was kang war in which he shows the avengers these futures explaining that they are WOEFULLY unprepared for whats going to happen (and they should concede the world to him). In that story he end the future visions by saying "That last future I told you about? It has started now..." and it was something from he winter-guard called the presence.

Yet in on of those futures he described... "The waking return of the Elder God Cthon... and the horrible wasting disease hat he brings with him."
or something like that.

Its pretty easy when you think about it.

Step 1. Look for powerful villain (or really ANYONE who changes the default marvel status quo really) give him a motivation to effect change that counters ... normalcy.
See the heroes never effect change, they never machinate.... effectively they exist to "Thwart"

Step 2. Ensure that said villain isn't someone or in a situation such that the "Earth's mightiest heroes" and "X-peoples" can't immediately fly to and punch down. Ideally illustrating that said villian IS too powerful
to punch down via scathing defeat.

Step 3. Show the changes to normalcy/status quo ala some form of disruption or coercion. Disaster or beginnings of a radical dominance shift of the prominent humans of the 616

Step 4. The heroes have no choice but to unite and do something to stop the change reset the world.


Funny thing is... some of that works better within the confines of a "what if" style story. Yet, recently a tale that got caught up as something I'd want to see is. "New hero", or "villain" or a group does something "good" but disruptive af.

*Provide free energy
*or free clean water
*cures massive amounts of diseases (the x-books touched on that)
*provides unrestricted information and or technology to the base line human
*Provides an effect that made the base line human MUCH smarter
*Gives anyone who wanted them superpowers...

Universally any effect that would cause marvel to go "tippyverse" would unite the heroes because upsetting power dynamics is something they're vaguely sworn to prevent

Skull has an uncanny knack for getting the cosmic cube, so that can be revisited again in the future.

I will say that Skull getting ultimate power in theory is a lot scarier than Doom. Maybe even Thanos.

With Kang being a time traveller.

Perhaps he was a Nazi during WW2. A member if Hyrdra, helped the experiments on Mutants.
Perhaps he was a General in the South during the Civil War.

It is revealed that he has constantly been places to sabotage the timeline or make things go how he wants it to go.

Mephisto, no question. Let's say he's grown tired of playing his games and is ready to finally make his ultimate move to raise hell on earth.

I think given the right storyline, no jobbing and motivation, Apocalypse, Red Skull, Galactus, Selene, Ultron, Hela, Kang and Thanos could also be contenders. I realize Selene is not the same level of general knowledge and use in the comics, but again, given the right story I think her powerset and personality could absolutely be a threat that would unite all heroes. Yes, I know Apocalypse and Selene's status in the X-verse right now, but that could easily change. Magneto and Doom despite being Marvel's highest profile villains over the decades would have enough heroes turning a blind eye or siding with them given their complexity.

Well, Will... at least you see it too. Its a bad thing when all the suggestions are the same overused villians on repeat

when there are a plethora of bad guys that go forgotten that were one-times but extremely powerful and really should be just sitting plotting growing and
watching... Until some writer wants to make them his pet "big bad":

These guys had vast organizational powers and actual power as well, but really they just had a writer that wanted to invest in them.

On that same token when you sit back and think that really Norman Osborn basically pulled the stunt of uniting the heroes once.
Maybe its not that big a deal to do?

So the perfect villain to do it is Chthon. . . he hits everyteam and is powerful enough to change the world himself just by showing up.

But really almost anybody could serve the purpose if they had the proper power to effect lots of people and the desire of a writer.

Lastly, I kid you not I'm pretty sure hydroman could just destroy the whole world by himself just... just overnight... thorough various means he could probably make the earth a desert. They're are
a lot of villians just sitting like that but y'know... Its just to popular to make the heroes fight each other.
