from what I remember of this story, I really did not like it by the end. it felt, at it's best parts, like a lesser imitation of Watchmen with some potentially intriguing ideas in the mix. at it's worst parts, it felt like a shallow masturbatory nostalgiapiece for DC, by way of Superman, with the money shot all over the face of Watchmen and nuanced storytelling in general. It had some absolute baller art by Gary THE GOD Frank tho; shit was clean. obviously it's a harsh take that was probably exasperated by the enormous (and ultimately unwarranted) hype built around this title coupled with it's heavy delays. In truth, it's probably just a mediocre to ok story where DC and Johns simply bought into his and the stories' hype and "importance", and simply couldn't live up to that hype. I'm gonna revisit it just now, maybe i'll end up taking a less harsh stance with some distance, but I wanted to put my initial take down before I do.
