Is Alex Ross and Steve Darnell's US supposed to be a take on the Uncle Sam character owned by DC? It's hard to say, considering that first it really has no relation to the DCU version and Uncle Sam is in the public domain. However DC holds full copyright over that comic, which was rare for a Vertigo comic, even back then.

I like Uncle Sam, but I appreciate him more as a member of the Freedom Fighters.
